I missed the first theme test. The photos seem much sharper on this one. Is the comment tab harder to find or is it me. I don’t remember how it was on the original. it was so long ago.
This looks great. The large photo draws the reader in nicely. It’s a terrific lead photo. Maybe one or two fewer links at the top so they’re all on one line beneath the photo? (At least, they appear on two lines on my screen.) Can you put the GMG Facebook link as an icon below “Subscribe to GMG”? That would make sense since both are ways to access GMG.
One other thing: a lot of the text is now a light gray that’s hard to read. (For example, in the “Subscribing” section, in the bylines and datelines, the “Free GMG Gloucester Sticker” section, etc.) Can you shade it slightly darker so it stands out more?
Can I make a suggestion? You might want to move the Email Us to top of the right sidebar (you can use the arbitrary text widget if there isn’t an Email Us widget). It’s the most visual place on a blog to put that kind of thing. Also, if you move it from the top nav bar (the black strip), you might be able to squeeze all the other nav links on one line instead of it overflowing to two like it is now. Try changing GTown Music to just Music. Apologies – I’m a Web designer by trade.
Thanks. Another thing you can do is lose the GMGFacebook link in the top nav bar. Center the FB (and Twitter, if you must) icon at the top of the right sidebar, put the Email Us link under it, change LocalWiFiMap to just Local WiFI or WiFI and that should get your top nav bar to a cleaner size.
I love this blog! I read it every morning first thing because it gives me a sense of living near the sea, something I dream of. Ya’ll are lucky to live where you do.
Hey Brother , well I guess I am going to be the jerk who disagrees with everyone else ? I do think the graphics are are more crisp and the videos look better , but all the white is just to blah for my taste . It’s more like going on to a CNN website or something , It just don’t have the Homie feeling it did before ( Like Gloucester does for me ) . Can you put a different color for background insted of white ? That’s the only thing I dont care for is all that white . I will say one thing brother , I remember very well the day you told me to check out the blog you just started and it was just photos of boats and lobstermen from your place . Now within 10 seconds I know everything worth knowing going on in Gloucester . You have done a super job Brother and as someone who has played with photography all his life I just want to say you have a great ( natural ) eye for it . take care brother and let’s try to loose atleast “some” of that white . LOL ……

I like the all the white space. This is easy on the eyes. Comments are a little harder to find, but once you get used to it, no problem.
