This is one of the new solar compactor trash collectors the city purchased with a grant. this one is one main street next to the Judith Sargent Murray Hough house stairs.
The city has already seen a reduction in illegal trash dumping in public receptacles, only has to empty these about 2 times a week. there is less trash blowing around main street these days, and fewer opportunistic scavengers!

YEAH… love them and hopefullly people will not just throw things around and the wind does not blow the trash around the edge of most other trash cans…

these are awesome! they are also on the boulevard. when the light is red, they are full. the beaches want them, but sand might be an issue for the ‘solar electronics’. there is so much less trash on main street and the kids are stopping to check it out! trying to open it, trying to hear it compact, etc. i think the solar panel is gorgeous!
