Here’s a look at the top ten page views out of a long long list from yesterday-
I’m not sure how they tabulate “clicks” because I know we had for example wayyyy more than 12 votes on the obnoxious poll yesterday so that one puzzles me because someone would have had to Click on the poll to vote, no?

I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to display our videos without the ugly black bars on the top and bottom and in all their widescreen 16:9 glory. Thanks to a few hints from Paul M I have it figured out so we get this-
instead of this-
The first one is much more pleasing to look at don’t you think?
Cape Ann Youth Lacrosse – Giving Back

On Sunday morning, May 16, 2010, the Titans and Spartans of Cape Ann Youth Lacrosse program participated in a morning of giving back. These young Lacrosse players, In the spirit of giving back, they cut, clean and rake the grounds of the WWII Memorial Monument.
The monument recognized the tremendous sacrifices made by the men and women from Gloucester, Massachusetts and honors the individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice.
At 10:30, Mr. Michael Linquata a WWII Veteran the owner of The Gloucester House Restaurant, and one of the originators and main movers behind the memorial construction spoke to the players about the memorials long journey from a simple vision to the completion of one of the most striking WWII memorials you will ever see set on a beautiful plot across from the boulevard overlooking Gloucester harbor. It was honor and privilege for our team to have a part in enhancing the memorials site.
Thank You to the girls, boys and parents of Cape Ann Youth Lacrosse for your time and effort, YOU made a difference!
Special Thanks to:
North Shore Pro Landscape – Jim O’Brien for the use of the landscape equipment and leading this effort.
Manchester Athletic Club – Brian Fleming for Coffee, water, muffins and donuts to keep the kids and parents energized.

Fred Bodin’s Fish and Pics
A double Christmas present to my better half was a twofer I picked up at Bodin Historic Photo Gallery right here on Main Street in the West End of Gloucester:

I can stand at the window on the left and line up the street with the historic map and wonder what the Avenues looked like when Eben Phillips was thinking of developing the whole point. My house was there in 1884 when the map was done so the horse hair insulation is authentic. (Real horse, really blows for insulation.)

And the ceramic Striper can remind me that small stripers are being found right now so the blues are not far behind and with that smoked bluefish pate.
Fun Fact: Visit Fred’s website and click on the events calendar. The most recent addition is a wine tasting on Feb 7, 1998. I missed that! It was catered by the Grange Gourmet. I miss them too. I think in the summer of 1986 I visited Grange Gourmet about every other day.
But back to Fred. Glad to see he has his priorities straight and is not wasting time screwing around updating his website. No need. Everyone knows where to find him.
Gallery, Studio, whatevah. (Kudos to Fred for not rolling his eyes.)

Dinner with David Cox and we both agreed these were fantastic.
Tom Shea’s new Horseshoe bar with views of the Essex River is fantastic. The food is great and I highly recommend the bar menu.

Korean War…60 years later
Hi Joey,
I ran into Mel Olson (might be Olsen) on the Blvd. today. He had his Korea hat on and got a misty far-away look as he spoke about the war.
He told me that he had put something in the paper asking folks who were there to contact him and no one did.
It’s been 60 years this year since the start of that war…and the Korean people are themselves very grateful for those who defended them.
http://www.kw60project.com/aboutla.html
Mel was a teller at the Gloucester Co-op for a number of years and most recently has been a member of the board of directors of the Ipswich Co-op Bank (now called Institution for Savings).
It hurt me to sense the feeling of futility Mel experienced as he stated the facts.
He hasn’t had much help, but I thought if you could put something out there on Good Morning Gloucester, folks might step up to help him get a 60th anniversary project going.
I appreciate what you do and hope there’s another Korean War vet out there who is proud of having defended South Korea so that they still have a country today.
Thank you,
Kristen Callahan

Giuseppe’s Ristorante & Piano Bar Going Into The Space Formerly Occupied By Elliott’s At The Blackburn
Memory Layne (not her porn star name I’m told) and her man Joe are taking over the space formerly occupied by Elliott’s in the Historic Blackburn Building.
Check out the website for now and look for updates as to the renovations taking place in these pages.
Here’s the website for Giusppe’s Ristorante and Piano Bar
From the website-
It seemed like a simple request…
From the back of a restaurant, I called out, requesting one of my favorite songs.
Joe looked up at me from the piano and asked, “Can you sing it?” After we met that summer evening, Joe and I did what everybody does on Cape Ann…..walking beaches, breathing salt air, taking in the great food and entertainment.
Neither of us enjoyed being separated once the off-season rolled around and he traveled abroad for work. It didn’t take us long to figure out it was time to create a special place for people to enjoy great music, food and company.
We’ve been working and dreaming, in the hope that you will enjoy a unique and wonderful experience here at Giuseppe’s Ristorante and Piano Bar.
Joe and Memory
