Skiing in Ravenswood
Yesterday I spent the most peaceful morning cross-country skiing in Ravenswood Park. Although there were several cars in the parking lot, I saw only a handful of people on the trails.
The sun and trees created giant shadows on the snow. The quietness filled the air. The only sound was the flap of my skis on my boots. I followed the Quarry Rd. trail where this photo was taken. The familiar landscape of my mountain bike rides was transformed into a winter wonderland.

Rockport High Tide Tour
High tide on Sunday was close but no cigar for Motif#1. Still had at least a foot of freeboard left.

It was a tad blustery:
But this gmg reporter did not get his butt off the heated car seat to shoot these. There are limits.

Christina Writes-
CIBBOWS (coney island brighton beach open water swimmers) gather to wish Joey & Gloucester a warm, cozy good morning! Rachel, Patty & Cristian are about to swim around Cape Horn in a few weeks! Rachel & Cristian swam the icy Strait of Magellan last year. THATs cold-water swimming!!! (sorry, trembling: just got out of the water.)

January 2, 2010 Good Harbor Beach Footbridge
The water was pretty high during the Blue moon. You know when it comes up and covers the marsh that it’s a abnormally high tide.

Lily Represents at today’s high tide walk!
Ok, so maybe Lily isn’t swimming in the high tide in a bikini and January with the ice floes, but she is representing!
Lily represents with the heavy equipment replacing the sea wall on the causeway in Essex…….

She walks the line, and represents!

And Lily has her “sticka”………………she can park here!

Not too much launching ramp business today in Essex

I think that red dumpster at Essex Marina across the way might be floating!

That dog walks on water!

Would be easy to launch a new schooner today, Harold–I think the water is IN the building!

Today’s view from the bridge across the causeway

So glad Lily and I shoveled out so we could drive down town and check out today’s scenery. I remember walking down to the causeway from the other side of town when I was a little girl and lived in “South Essex.” Lil thought it was “so cool” to go down there, walk in the middle of the road and see Mother Nature in action!
Here’s to Snow Days!
