Meet Will Toppan, The Owner of the last “Art, Rock’s!” Rock.
Will and his Dad found that Rock in record time. I received an email within an hour after it was posted on GMG.
Here’s the email I received from Will and bill;
Mr. Frontiero,
thank you, my son has been on a mission to find one. You have made his day. Words can’t describe his expression upon finding it. You have a special following, please continue, I’m sure more smiles will follow.
Bill and Will Toppan
Thanks to my Son Chris for dropping off the “Art, Rock” this morning. At this moment he’s watching the time on His Ipod. At exactly 10am He will release the Rock where he was instructed to do so. Here are a few Photos. Sorry about the out of focus Rock photo. It’s hard doing things with only your left hand when your right handed.
I have some time on my Hands or should I say hand? At the moment and I’ve been checking out twitter lately and I’ve changed my mind on it.
I didn’t like it at first. Couldn’t figure out what the big deal was about. But, it gets addictive. It gives you up to date info on what’s happening on what your interested in.
I follow “TWITS” on Cape Ann, Artists and News.
Here’s a list I found on Artists and photographers. Cape Ann Arts Map is listed here among thousands of others from around the World.

Check it out!

Follow me and maybe you’ll find an Art Rock this weekend.
I wanted to see if using Twitter for This “Art, Rocks!” thing would work. It did. Here’s the email I received;
I found the “Art, Rocks” at Good Harbor Beach. Nice sketch. I have to admit that I must have walked by it 2 or 3 times (I went across the street to look right after your tweet that you left one). The photo clue was what did it…I have been back and forth enough times on my first venture to have pretty much memorized the rocks along the sidewalk :-))).
Sorry to anyone who was looking for a Rock yesterday. I posted i was going to leave one somewhere in Gloucester at 6pm on 03/19/2011. But I was unable to make it. Sorry Again.
But I did have a little break today and was able to do one after my Meditation session.
Follow me on twitter for it’s location: http://twitter.com/#!/capeannpainter
Sorry, but no photos. I didn’t have my camera with me.

Don’t worry Joey, GMG has nothing to worry about. Even though I will be posting some Great Stuff! This Blog will be following the progress of Six Artists participating in the “Sketchbook Project” all of us either live here in Gloucester or have Ties here. Deb Clarke can explain it better. Check it out below.
From Deb Clarke;
“Hello,
We are 6 intrepid sketchbookers with a common love of gloucester massachusetts that have decided to participate with 17,000+ other sketchbookers in “The Sketchbook Project”. This began with Elizabeth Bollenberg asking me (deb clarke, her mom) to get her a sketchbook so that she could participate in the project. I ordered a sketchbook for her and one for me. My goodmorninggloucester friend and student Paul Frontiero ordered one. Then my friend, co-worker, and goodmorninggloucester friend Sabine Ocker ordered one. Then my friend, now living in Palm Springs and goodmorninggloucester friend Helen Anne Lind ordered one.
my personal approach…i’m going to start posting regularly on it after i deliver eb’s sketchbook to her tomorrow. i have some fun ideas, and of course, since i am an artist and am used to stretching into unknown territory, i’m going to dive in, dive down deep, then re-surface. whatever i do, i trust it will be full of surprises, with unexpected consequences.
at least this is one art object that i won’t have to store and take care of after it leaves my hands.
We invite you to follow our progress towards the successful completion of our sketchbooks.
Anyone can participate, you don’t have to be an artist! If you would like to participate in the sketchbook project too, click the sketchbook project link. If you would like to share your sketchbook work for The Brooklyn Art Library’s traveling ‘Sketchbook Project”, we would be pleased to see your work and perhaps share your progress on our Blog; http://somethingsketchy.wordpress.com/ and here on GMG too.”

A few hours after Sketching, Dropping and Posting My latest “Art Rock” Sunday, I received this email from the Serrin Family.
“As soon as we saw the post we rushed right over there. So excited to finally find one! We are big fans of GMG. Little Jack Serrin loves his new toy.” 🙂 The Serrin Family
Here’s Little Jack Serrin with his new Toy
Thanks to the Serrins for the Kind Words.
Here a couple of Sharpie Drawings from me and Deb Clarke.
I got addicted to the Sharpies From Debs videos and Drawings.
The thickness of the Sharpie point keeps your Drawings loose.
I’m Addicted!
Paper covers rock, Deb Wins!
Here’s one of Debs and One of Mine;

This one may take awhile to find.
Only the dedicated Readers of GMG could on such a beautiful Sunday.
Lost in the weeds. August 15, 2010 10:45am
Thanks To Deb Clarke, I’m officially addicted to sniffing Sharpies!
I Talked to Joey today. I had this great idea. Instead of leaving an “Art, Rock” someplace. I could use the GMG Petty cash to Hire a helicopter, fly over the Farmers Market and drop them on the shoppers below. He was’nt to thrilled with the idea. The guy’s a fart! It would’ve been AWESOME!
But Anyways,
Here’s the Hint; After 4am Look for a natural Shady place, not a tent, or a building. Easy Enough. If you find it and if you’d like. Take a picture of yourself with the Rock and we’ll feature you on GMG. Goodluck! Sorry all finds are Final no returns.
Rockport, Good Harbor, Rockport and Downtown will be this weekends Target.
Only GMG Readers get the Hints.
First of all; I usually don’t think things through too much. I just do it and deal with the fallout later. Such as some of my Posts here on GMG. 🙂
Sometimes I’ll Complain to Joey that I have nothing left to offer that’s interesting to the GMG Readers. Joey will say a few inspiring words. Words that I can’t repeat here at the moment. Maybe another Time. But, he does motivate me.
I came up with the idea of these “Art Rocks” When I heard the song by the band The Police, “Message in a Bottle” When I was down at Pebble Beach Sketching. So I sketched a few rocks with my Sharpie and left them for someone to find. I didn’t think of it until I received emails saying they found my “Art Rock” and loved the idea. So I did a few more and left them at Cressy Beach. When I was back there a few days later the Rocks were gone but I never received any emails. I wrote Joey an email saying the “Art Rocks” are Bust! He didn’t think so, he said just keep trying. So I figured I try one at the State Fish Pier. The response really moved me. When I think “Why do I keep doing this GMG thing it takes up a lot of my time and Brain Power. Ok, no wise ass remarks on that last one please. Now I Know why. GMG has a lot of Positive effect on people and myself. I’m just glad I could contribute a little with this “Art Rocks” thing. THANKS! GMG, JOEY and of course DEBBIE CLARKE for all of her Encouragement and Inspiration.
OK, ON WITH THE POST.
“Art, Rocks!”
I left an “Art Rock” at the State Fish Pier (my favorite hang out) Saturday Morning.
here’s the link to that Post: Paint Factory “Art Rock” click here
I Love viewing the Paint Factory and the going ons there during the rising and setting sun. The Area Glows with Light at those times. I decided to draw the Paint Factory on a Rock and leave it there for someone to find. You never know who will find it. I left my email address on it so the person who found it could contact me.
I’d like to share the emails with you that I received from the person who found it.
First Email From Debbie;
