Last night at the Taste of The Times Event I met Dena Raffa, a blogger who created The Perfect Bite which is a restaurant review blog which focuses on Boston area restaurants. Dena reviews Boston area restaurants in depth. She breaks it all down for you first starting out with the Bread, Menu, Presentation, Bathrooms, Waitstaff, Overall Impressions and The Perfect Bite.
If you are heading into town and are looking for a good review, Chickity Check It!- The Perfect Bite
Debbie Clarke submitted her refrigerator bio and asked GMG readers to create theiiir own refrigerator bios by turning their cameras on their refrigerators and telling the story through what you may have stuck to it.

Hey Joe,
When you have some time, would you consider adding Cape Ann Web to the list of links on GMG?
That was my first baby – it’s been online since 2002, It’s a somewhat static site (except for the restaurant reviews), more practical than pretty – updated when I have time to search for new sites or when people submit suggestions.
It’s mostly a directory of online resources for Cape Ann – I created it more for residents than tourists, with quick links and searches to city/town information. The Community Sites page is pretty cool and extensive. I added a blog roll a few months ago. It’s pretty much all about what’s out there about Cape Ann on the Web! I feel like it’s the mama web site for all the great sites that have been created in the past 8 years.
I’ve been thinking about another charity bowling smack-down – one of these days. Oh … and when we do, I’ve got Dean signed up … on my team. hahaha
Thanks!

I had a conversation with Patrick Doud yesterday, the writer who will be having his book signing Sunday at The Bookstore of Gloucester, about being an artist and creating. Specifically we talked about a subject I’ve discussed with many different artists in different mediums such as painting, writing, sculpting, blogging, basically any passion in which you are creating.
The premise that I find to be common among people who have that creative fire within is that if they hit a wall or lose momentum or stop pushing the boundaries of their medium that they get really depressed or in a big time funk.
And so it is with the blog. When I feel like I’m bumping up against the same material or formats or functions of the blog I feel an itch and it bothers me if we are not pushing forward with new ideas or if there are ways we can do things better. It may mean ways to reach more people. It may mean a better way to serve up video or pictures. It may mean higher quality production. It may mean new tools for people to use on the blog.
Some of the spawn of these itches have been the GMG Local WiFi Map, many of the various contests we hold, new HD video, and other things like that. Well now you can add another dimension to the GMG Blog- another tool to communicate with our community, another way for folks to find out what is going on around town.
It’s The Good Morning Gloucester Community Calendar. As people send me new events coming up around Cape Ann I’ll add the listings to the GMG Community Calendar so anyone can peruse what is happening. If you have an event coming up just send it along in a comment and I’ll be sure to add it to the GMG Community Calendar for our entire community to learn about.
I included a tab along the top of the page titled Upcoming Events. Click on that tab for the Link to the GMG Community Calendar and please don’t hesitate to send in suggestions.

FOB(friend of the blog) Jerry Ackerman sent me a link to some great video footage of the Northeaster from Blogger Dan Kennedy. What a difference a day makes as his video was shot during the storm. I’m wondering how he kept his camera from being completely encrusted in salt while taking this video-

From North Shore Dish-
Cape Ann Fresh Catch, the Gloucester-based community supported fishery program, has certainly made a big splash since it debuted last year. Lauded by the likes of Boston.com and Saveur, the program has been popular among those with a desire to eat fresh, locally produced foods.
Caught fresh daily by Gloucester fishermen, approximately five pounds of seafood per customer is delivered to seven Boston area communities; Cambridge (two locations), Jamaica Plain, Acton, Lincoln, Marblehead, Gloucester, Newburyport, and Ipswich. There is a two-hour window for shareholders to pick up. Consumers get local, seasonal, super-fresh fish, and the money goes directly to the fishermen, supporting the local economy and encouraging sustainable practices.

We have nearly 4,000 DVD’s to offer as part of our WICKED BIG DVD SALE, which is perpetually running now at The Cape Ann Community Cinema. The hours for the sale this weekend are Saturday 10AM-4PM, plus before (an hour before the day’s first show) and after whatever movie you come to see.

We’ve got to put the full weight of our community behind one of Gloucester’s favorite Sons- Jimmy T! He needs our support to get on Survivor. Please copy the url of this post and send it to your friends and family members to also vote for our boy Jimmy T.

Jimmy is not only a great guy but he is one of the DOERS around town. You know, the 2% of people that make 80% of the cool stuff happen. He volunteers a ridiculous amount of time along with help from others to make the International Dory Races what they are today and continuing the great tradition. He truly deserves to be on the show for a whole slew of reasons.

Dear Friends and Family,
I have been blessed with the opportunity of a lifetime! My video, titled “Gloucester Fisherman” because I am so very proud of my community and maritime heritage, has been selected to the Final 10 of the “Survivor” Casting Call Contest! Whichever video of the final 10 receives the most votes, that person will likely be a castaway in season 21/22 of “Survivor”!!!
Now it’s up to you! My ONLY chance is for you to click on the link below, vote for me, and take a moment to forward this e-mail to as many friends, as far reaching as possible.
Five minute of your time could change the lives of my family!!!
