Manchester/Essex Regional High School has a pretty cool tradition of having the parents of graduating seniors decorate their children’s parking spots. Thanks to Ken Lawler and his drone we get to enjoy these sweet views from above. Congratulations to all of the seniors…especially Maddie L. And, yes, I cried a little bit when watching Ken’s video. Be sure to check out the video as well as the photos. I’m very appreciative that Ken was willing to share when asked.

Osprey Couple Has Returned to Lobsta Land Nest
They are back and tending to the nest behind Lobsta Land! The osprey pair was spotted yesterday together in the nest. One flew off and returned with nesting material while the other worked on nest maintenance. This happened a couple of times in the half hour or so that we watched. We may also have observed some courting behavior. The nest is just a little out of reach for my lens, so I have sacrificed some clarity for closeness. They are so fun to watch. Lucky for us, the Essex Greenbelt Osprey Cam makes it easy to watch live. There is a current nest photo on the site but I am not sure the camera is live yet. Watch it here for clearer footage: https://ecga.org/Osprey-Cam

7 Projects for Spring Cleaning From Grand Banks Building Products
Warmer weather has arrived, and we are not mad about it. Now that daylight savings has given us our evening sunshine back, it’s time to start cleaning out our closets. And disinfecting them. This is the opportunity to tackle all the projects we’ve been putting off.
Spring Cleaning comes as a response to the shift in seasons. As we begin to put away the heavy layers of winter and break out the spring/summer wardrobe, we start to reorganize our closets and our shelves. We start to evaluate the shape of our homes and how they fared through the dark and cold winter months.
Spring signals more than just cleaning out your closet, it’s a time for new growth and rebirth. Spring Cleaning is a time to look around you house and decide what you can work on, what you can improve. Even if you aren’t making any big renovations, fix…

Manchester Historical Museum Update
If you haven’t heard yet, we will be open this Saturday, April 10 (10-2), to offer time to those who couldn’t come during our weekday hours. I’ve attached a poster to share that announces that. The last day will be Friday, April 16. As of today, there have been 43 sales – some large, some small.
The week of April 20 – 23 will be “take down” of the art show Tues- Friday (10-3). Since this process will be quicker and more of us are getting vaccinations, I’ll just let folks come when they can to gather their items.
Your support means a lot to us. In August, I’ll be sending our sign-up forms for the Fall Art Show that will open in October and run for 6 weeks.

Oh Deer! Brunch on Hammond Street
We almost missed brunch in East Gloucester yesterday. Darn deer eating new spring growth right along the street. These are obviously taken from the car, but 3 deer were having themselves a spring feast.

Marshalls Farm Stand is reopening
Marshalls Farm Stand is open now for early cold weather plants and The Farm will be reopening on April 16, 2021 for food, another sign of spring.

It appears a deck is being built behind Lobsta Land in preparation for their scheduled opening April 22. Awesome view. Cannot wait!

Opening Day For Cape Ann Whale Watch
Hi Joey & happy Thursday!
Just wanted to send a quick email along to get Gloucester excited for our upcoming season! There have been reports from the Boston boats that Humpbacks are already off Stellwagen Bank and we couldn’t be more excited to get our season going! We start up April 17th, but with the limited capacity restrictions, that date is already sold out! Best thing to do is check our website www.seethewhales.com for our full schedule with available dates. We begin going daily May 1st.
This is definitely a sure sign of summer coming!
Best,
Emily Douglass

Carry-on Suitcase
I haven’t flown since last January. We flew to LA for six days. We were organizing our basement the other day and I found a piece of luggage that I formerly used as my “carry-on” when I don’t travel with checked bags. It occurred to me that I almost always check luggage. It also occurred to me that my once-was-carry-on looks kind of big. So I compared it to a “newer model” of carry-on. True….several inches higher. Sigh. When did the acceptable size for carry-ons change? And where have I been…..other than I guess not flying….or flying with really big bags?
