Opening Day For Cape Ann Whale Watch
Hi Joey & happy Thursday!
Just wanted to send a quick email along to get Gloucester excited for our upcoming season! There have been reports from the Boston boats that Humpbacks are already off Stellwagen Bank and we couldn’t be more excited to get our season going! We start up April 17th, but with the limited capacity restrictions, that date is already sold out! Best thing to do is check our website www.seethewhales.com for our full schedule with available dates. We begin going daily May 1st.
This is definitely a sure sign of summer coming!
Best,
Emily Douglass

Carry-on Suitcase
I haven’t flown since last January. We flew to LA for six days. We were organizing our basement the other day and I found a piece of luggage that I formerly used as my “carry-on” when I don’t travel with checked bags. It occurred to me that I almost always check luggage. It also occurred to me that my once-was-carry-on looks kind of big. So I compared it to a “newer model” of carry-on. True….several inches higher. Sigh. When did the acceptable size for carry-ons change? And where have I been…..other than I guess not flying….or flying with really big bags?

A Visit to Rafe’s Chasm
We hadn’t taken the walk out to Rafe’s Chasm in a while. A beautiful afternoon encouraged us to return to this beautiful spot for a little reflection time. It’s a short walk from the small parking lot and the path is nicely cleared. There didn’t happen to be anybody else right there on the rocks with us, but several teens were exploring the area near the chasm. One even belted out a Disney song ( A Whole New World, if memory serves.) which echoed off the rocks in a beautiful way bringing a smile to my face. Welcome spring!

Sawyer Free Library and Wellspring House Launch “Gloucester Connection” Website
The SAWYER FREE LIBRARY and WELLSPRING HOUSE are pleased to announce the launch of GLOUCESTER CONNECTION. This innovative multi-lingual website (gloucesterconnection.org) connects the greater community to Gloucester’s vast social services for education, health care, housing, and much more. The new free-to-use web platform is an easy-to-navigate centralized online directory and calendar that consolidates information from local organizations, services, and events for residents, visitors, and service providers, prioritizing accessibility by making it available in over 100 world languages.
Recognizing the need to streamline access to critical local resources, the Sawyer Free Library and Wellspring House, with contributions from Action Inc., Gloucester Housing Authority and Gloucester Public Schools, came together to align their efforts —and created the Gloucester Connection. Social Capital, Inc. was hired to develop the site.
The group identified and enlisted over fifty Cape Ann social service organizations, both public and private, to participate…
