Make Way for Wild turkeys – by Long Beach #GloucesterMA

Four wild turkeys paraded through the neighborhood.

2021 Wild Turkeys cross Thatcher Road

Last March I saw 18 cross Thatcher Road, between Good Harbor Beach and Long Beach Dairy Maid, just past Witham.

“Spring is Here! We are so excited we wet our plants!” Wolf Hill’s clever sign is a hit with a few boys I know! Also a nice new store sign and the fleet’s out — Wolf Hill’s colorful stock of Adirondack chairs are lined up and ready.

HERALDING HARBINGER OF SPRING

Aside from Spring Peepers, is there a sound of the New England meadow that announces the arrival of spring more eloquently than that of the Red-winged Blackbird calling to his lady love? I think not. Happy Spring!

Art! Music! Poetry! Dance! on Motif No.1 Day

Motif_poster2016_3-1Aflts

Lots of great stuff is going on this year in Rockport at the annual Motif No.1 Day. We have the Rockport Farmers Market, coffee from Twin Lights Coffee Co., burgers from Seaview Farm, lots of good stuff from the Rockport New Year’s Eve Food Booth and crepes from the soon-to-be-open StudioCrepe restaurant by the train station.

A Seaside Circus, great live music, interactive activities like the Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest, poetry readings, and much more are all part of the event, not to mention the Motif No.1 Day 5K and Fun Run, with proceeds going to benefit health & wellness at Rockport Elementary School!

Go to www.rockportexchange.org for a Schedule of Events, but keep in mind more good things will be added before the festival takes place on May 21st.

Vernal Equinox 12:30 AM this morning

6:20AM twenty minutes before sunrise. It's spring but wear your mittens since it is a bit nippy out there.

If you click on the sunrise and enlarge you can see the Rockport Breakwater and also a very large barge. A click or two on maritime traffic and bread crumbs left behind by the tug Dolphin identifies the boat heading north five miles out. Hope the heat works on the bridge.
