When walking out to Rafe’s Chasm on Tuesday ran into visitors from North Carolina. While talking Maggie, a lovely woman, realized I was with Good Morning Gloucester. Maggie, Alice and Rick have been visiting Cape Ann for 8 years and follow Good Morning Gloucester. Love meeting visitors. This family was so nice and enjoyed meeting them very much.

Soul Rebel Project Concert Castle Hill tomorrow & Zach joins in!
Soul Rebel Project will be playing tomorrow at the Thursday Night Picnic Concert at Castle Hill on the Crane Estate. It’s the 21st year for this summer concert series at Cranes, a Trustees property, 290 Argilla Rd, Ipswich, MA. Concerts are 7pm – 9pm and gates open at 5pm for the tailgate picnic part. Tickets are available for sale at the gate only: Members: $20/car; Nonmembers: $30/car; Walk-in, bicycle, & motorcycle: $10.
I’m psyched to hear that Zach Gorrell will be joining in. You may know Zach from his work at Sound Harbor Cape Ann Art Haven or Cape Ann Big Band. They just played Fiesta. He’s awesome! Of course, Gloucester knows Soul Rebel Project, too. And they just played during Fiesta at Minglewood.
The Thursday Night picnic concerts at Harbor Loop in Gloucester are free and held from 6-9pm. Tony Frontiero and John Rockwell & the Headlands are playing Harbor Loop tomorrow.

Seriously glistening summer day. Cape Ann SUP kypads are really holding up: we’re going on two years of steady use, after renting and taking lessons from Dominic. Gloucester is lucky to have several water sport shopping options. Besides Cape Ann SUP, we’ve had surf lessons, rented and purchased wetsuits (for guests, too) from Surfari on 210 Main Street. Cape Ann Divers in (Shaw’s) Cape Ann Marketplace is another place we’ve purchased various beach essentials and wetsuits.

Saratoga Springs
Yesterday I wrote about our trip to the Saratoga Race Track and the Whitney. Well, after a fun day at the track, a phenomenal dinner at Delmonico’s Italian Steak House, and a good night’s sleep at the Desmond Hotel, we woke up in the morning and spent a few hours strolling through downtown Saratoga Springs.
I’ve been wanting to visit Saratoga Springs for several years now as I’ve heard some pretty great things about it. I can’t lie….as much as I love the boys….I’ve actually been meaning to get away for a “grown up” vacation as I believe I am correct in saying that the town boasts more restaurants/bars per capita than any other place in the country. It has also been dubbed “The happiest city in New York.” How can one go wrong?
Well, it did not disappoint. We parked next to a super cute park…in a covered lot…for free….and enjoyed walking through town for a couple of hours. My only regret is that we had a huge breakfast and were too full to enjoy any of the awesome restaurants that we passed by. Many were, for the record, totally dog friendly. We heard live music from no fewer than five establishments and did some great window shopping! It had such a great vibe, was totally clean, the people were courteous, and the architecture was stunning. Once again…I found myself not really ready to go home…and already looking forward to going back.

Mommy & Me Fitness Class Coming Soon!
Starting Wednesday August 23rd we will be offering a fun mommy and me fitness class for moms with children 0-3 years old. The class will be every Wednesday morning from 9:00 – 10:00am. Mommy and Me Fitness will feature fun kid friendly music, and exercises that include the kids and give Mom a great workout. Children who can not sit up on their own should come in their car seat for easy mobility. We have a separate, comfortable area available for breastfeeding mothers to nurse. Bring water, towel, your little one, and your sense of humor!
We are also excited to announce that starting in September Phia will be offering childcare during select classes. Now there’s no need to arrange for a babysitter or wait until your spouse is home. We’ve got you covered! Stay tuned for more details and the release of our fall schedule.

ON SALE AT GLOUCESTER HIGH SCHOOL STARTING WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 23
CATA Student Bus Passes are scheduled to be sold in the Gloucester High School Atrium on Wednesday, August 23, Thursday, August 24 and Friday, August 25 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.; Monday, August 28from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Tuesday, August 29, Wednesday, August 30 and Thursday, August 31 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the Gloucester High School Atrium. Student Passes will not be available for purchase at the CATA office until after September 4.
The Pass Plus, Unlimited Semester (Fall or Spring) Pass and Unlimited Annual Pass will be on sale.
The Unlimited Semester (Fall or Spring) Pass and Unlimited Annual Pass are photo IDs and the student must be present at the time of purchase. The cost for the Unlimited Annual Pass is $200.00; the cost for the Unlimited Semester (Fall or Spring) Pass is $100.00 and the cost for the Pass Plus is $25.00. The Rotary Club of Gloucester MA will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on Saturday, August 19, 2017, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Stage Fort Park, located on Hough Avenue in Gloucester, MA.
