BREAKING NEWS: BACKYARD GROWERS CUTEST BABY CHIC FUNDRAISER EVER IS UNDERWAY!!!
https://instagram.com/p/08JlRPDypg/
Welcome adorable chix!
Backyard Growers was kind enough to allow GMG to photograph Main Street’s newest residents (albeit temporary). There are four different families of chickens, with a triplet in each. The babies must be sold in groups of three because, as Meghan explained, when a new baby chicken is introduced to a flock, if they don’t come with their own posse, they may be bullied by the flock. The four chicken families are Rhode Island Reds, Silver and Gold Laced Wyandottes, Buff Orpingtons, and Easter Eggers, which lay blue eggs!
Buff Orpington is on the left, Easter Egger on the right (I think)
Lara and Meghan have named each family of chicks after a TV show, Downton Abbey and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, for example, and each chicken is named after a character in the show. See Backyard Growers Facebook page to find out the names of the chicks and visit their beautiful new website for more information on the Cutest Fundraiser Ever!
Stop In and Have a Peep!

Happy Spring!

Kids Easter Bunny Cookie Day at Sista Felicia’s Kitchen!
Before noon yesterday, I had received numerous requests and inquire to purchase an “Easter Bunny Cookie.” Unfortunately because of the exorbitant costs to build and permit a commercial kitchen space I do NOT currently sell Sista Felicia Foods, and simply share my dishes and confections with family and friends. Hopefully in the near future an opportunity to hurtle this giant obstacle presents, enabling my cooked foods to be sold to the general public, but for now I continue to share my passion for food, tradition, and the gathering of family and friends with the public here on GMG. I feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to and share my Step-by-Step recipes and personal experiences celebrating the three “F’s”, Family Friends & Food with the general public though my “Sista Dish” post daily on this website, created by my brother Joey.
I quickly turned yesterday’s frustrating morning of “sorry they are not for sale” into a fantastic afternoon, the moment I decide to whip up another massive batch of cookie dough,( my Italian Cookie Dough recipe is included below) and extended an open invitation “treating” the children of my family and friends with an opportunity come to my kitchen and bake a Bunny Cookie with me! Within hours an impromptu afternoon of baking Eater Bunny Cookies with all kids in and around my life was well underway! The afternoon couldn’t have been more perfect! As the word got out, three waves of kids between 3 and 6pm found their way over to my kitchen, to craft Easter Bunny Cookies, followed by daughter Amanda, Columbia tennis exchange student Laura, and mother Pat,who latter in the evening after tennis academy training and work made the 4th and final wave of bunny cookie makers ending yesterday’s baking extravaganza!
Sisters Lexi & Lola Carollo
GMG Contributor Nichole Schraft’s son Finn intently frosting his bunny!
The smiles on the kids’ faces were priceless!
Several Easter Bunny Cookies left the kitchen with missing ears and feet…Maybe GMG Contributor Alicia Cox DeWolfe’s son, Tyler DeWolfe can explain?
Thank you all for joining me last minute yesterday afternoon!
XO Sista

Got Cancer?
Got Cancer? If not, you’ll probably get it, or a family member or someone else you know will. Last night, I watched a PBC documentary by Ken Burns about the disease. You gotta watch it! It starts at 9 pm on channel 2 (702 HD) and airs for 2 hours. I learned a lot about my problem, its history, and cures. Tonight is part 2 of 3. Now I feel like I can understand my doctor better and speak intelligently to others with the disease. Definitely worth the watch.

THEMED “On The Rocks!”, ROCKY NECK ART COLONY HOSTS ITS ANNUAL BEAUX ARTS BALL SUPPORTING LOCAL ARTISTS.
Friday, April 17, 2015, 7:30 pm. Costume judging and awards 8:30 pm.
The Studio Restaurant, 51 Rocky Neck Avenue, Gloucester, will graciously open its doors prior to its season only for this unique event. Tickets are available at the door or online at www.rockyneckartcolony.org
The Rocky Neck Art Colony’s Beaux Arts Ball is this art community’s most vibrantly festive social event of the season!
Celebrating the art of self-expression, the Beaux Arts Ball, famous for its guests’ exuberantly expressive costumes, invites all to raise a glass of bubbly and feast on fabulous fare. Then, dance the night away in an “On The Rocks!” costume creation that’s gorgeously garish, wildly whimsical, flagrantly flamboyant, ethereally elegant, or funky and fun – or not! Costumes add to the fun, but are certainly optional.
Participate in or simply enjoy the Costume Prize Competition, then try your luck in a raffle for a wide array of handsome gifts: a 3 hour trip for six on the “Windfall”, a 49 foot Hinckley-made sailboat; a hand-made birdhouse crafted by a local artisan; a colorful wheelbarrow filled with Spring gardening tools; a hand crafted full size wooden kayak; cases of locally made craft beers; a brand new bicycle; and a hand designed mirror by a noted artist and other exciting offerings from local donors.
The Beaux Arts Ball is a glorious tradition on Rocky Neck that, over the years, has attracted some of the great lights of the New England art world. So, share in the history, support your local artists, and experience the fun as you strike a pose, bring chaos to couture, hustle your bustle and dance like a dervish at the Beaux Arts Ball!!

Hello, Black Dog!
You may have already heard the great news….but, just in case you haven’t…get ready to shop at The Black Dog on Bearskin Neck!
So exciting. It’s quite an honor, if you ask me, for Rockport to have been chosen as The Black Dog’s newest location. Rockport now joins a pretty fantastic list of other oceanside communities that are home to Black Dog shops.
Familiarize yourself with some of their great merchandise now…and start making your wish list…by checking out the Black Dog here! FYI, they’re also hiring.
The first Black Dog General Store opened on Water Street in Vineyard Haven in 1992. Today, there are multiple locations of our Black Dog Stores from Portland, Maine down to Annapolis, Maryland. On Martha’s Vineyard, stores are located in Vineyard Haven, Edgartown and Oak Bluffs. On the Mainland, you’ll find stores in Falmouth, Provincetown, Chatham, Mashpee, Newburyport, MA, as well as Newport, RI, Portland, ME, Mystic, CT , National Harbor, MD, Boston, MA and don’t forget about our other island location, Nantucket!
What do these Black Dog townships have in common? The ocean, for one. A nautical heritage and a safe harbor are imperative. The Black Dog Tall Ships do visit these towns.
More importantly, these are towns that have much in common with The Black Dog, an appreciation for tradition, a love of the sea and all things authentically New England.

Which Churches Offer Sunrise Service?
Hi Joey!
Hope you are well!
Quick question: In years past I have attended sunrise service for Easter on Good Harbor Beach. I love it. This year I have not seen anything about it. I cannot remember which churches are involved in this, but wondered if you have heard anything about it.
I will email a few churches as well, but thought I would ask you about it as well. Please let me know if you know anything about this.
Thank you very much,
Priscilla Browne
Hi Joey,
In my attempt to get a head start on promotions, I wanted to reach out to you about our spring musical, Legally Blonde, next weekend. I’d love to be able to get the information out to the community and in your calendar of events as both our Jalapenos fundraiser and Dog Auditions were huge successes!
Here’s a little blurb about the show:
Join Gloucester High School Theatre Program for their spring musical, LEGALLY BLONDE. Get ready for a fun, upbeat story of self-discovery staring Harvard’s beloved blonde, Elle Woods.
Based on the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture and novel of the same name, this internationally award-winning musical follows Elle as she tackles stereotypes, snobs, and scandal to pursue her dreams. But don’t judge the show by its hair color. This musical is ridiculously enjoyable from start to finish and will have you leaving the theatre screaming OMIGOD!
Tickets may be purchased at the door, or on our website for a 10% discount!
