We’ve all heard of a ship in a bottle, but what about a ship made from a bottle? Students will build their own boats using recyclable materials. What makes a better boat, a water bottle pontoon boat or a juice carton skiff? As we discuss the importance of recycling, we’ll learn about real boats that have been built from recycled materials.Tuesday, February 18: Scrimshaw and Whale Tails
Did you know that humpback whales are named after patterns on their tails? We’ll look at whale bones and learn about whale and dolphin species found in New England and beyond. Students will also learn about sperm whales and scrimshaw by handling real whale teeth and creating their own scrimshawed candles to take home.Wednesday, February 19: Recycled Sea Creatures
Can you transform a water bottle into a fish, or a plastic plate into a sea turtle? Using a variety of recyclable materials, students will create their own sea creature sculptures to take home. We’ll look at a vast collection shells, bones, and exoskeletons for inspiration and discuss sea creature adaptations. As we talk about the importance of recycling, we’ll look at pictures of sea creature art made from recycled materials, such as marine debris and water bottles.Thursday, February 20: Ice and Snow Science
Does this time of year have you thinking of ice and snow? Students will learn all about ice through a variety of icy experiments, challenges, and projects. After looking at how salt affects ice, students will create saltwater paintings to take home. We’ll also learn about how arctic and Antarctic sea creatures have adapted to survive at extreme temperatures.Friday, February 21: Rube Goldberg Machines
Cartoonist Rube Goldberg was known for drawing complex yet impractical machines, involving multiple steps to accomplish simple tasks. After looking at Goldberg’s humorous comics for inspiration, students will engineer a Rube Goldberg machine. Using marbles, Lego bricks, wooden blocks, dominoes, and much more, we’ll build and test intricate machines as we learn about energy, momentum, and engineering.

The Gloucester House
If you’re looking for a great Sunday breakfast buffet, look no further. The Gloucester House puts on an incredible breakfast buffet on Sundays from 9:30-1:00.
I and all the artists who took part, want to give a big round of applause and our thanks to The Gloucester House, Lily, Lenny, Dottie Linquata and all there who made the St. Valentine’s Art Show one of the best I’ve seen and participated in. They made us feel like family and were so kind and generous to give us an exhibit and sales opportunity, in a delightful lovely space in the cold of February. If that wasn’t enough, each day they put out coffee, tea and wonderful homemade Italian cookies for us and visitors to enjoy. The Gloucester House and the Linquatas do much for the community, and the artists especially appreciate their generosity and kindness.
Special thanks also to Ray Lamont who gave the Show such great coverage in the Gloucester Daily Times, which drew many people to the show. It was great to meet artists I didn’t previously know and many people who don’t make it over to Rocky Neck, as well as to see those I do know but wouldn’t normally see in the dead of winter. All in all, a great four days that we all enjoyed immensely. Many thanks.

This Thursday night Dennis Brennan to play Dave Sag’s Blues Party @ The Rhumb Line. 8-11- 2.13.2014
We’re joining a musical health club this week and exercising our synapses with that top ‘o the heap pied piper and malarky master, Mr. Dennis Brennan. No relation to Walter. Big D has turned out to be a favorite around these parts, causing swooning women and male consternation. He comes fully equipped with a fabulous set of pipes, a harmonica, and a repertoire so vast as to inspire nosebleeds. My favorite singer!
He’ll be backed by an all-star cast featuring Mr. Matt “Dillon” Stubbs, on catarrh, and Broomful ‘o Blues drumpeter, Mr. Chris “Craft” Rivelli, a veritable powerhouse of the Blues foundry system. Both Matt and Chris have travelled the world incessantly and extensively, spreading the word with the likes of James Cottontail, or Jerry Porntoy, or Roomful or is it somebody else? I can’t remember. But you won’t forget the incessant carnal pounding of the boogie beat as you suck down that sixth beer…. It’s gonna be a blast.! See ya there!

there is a search box and there is also google.
might i suggest the search terms one billion rising and goodmorninggloucester.
There are no less than 5 results.
Now the thing that really tends to get me going more than having to point out that search engines exists is that when you suggest that search engines exist to most people, they seem genuinely indignant and feel like you are singling them out for being a dummy.
I should note that this is not the case with the person who sent me this email who I am sure is a very lovely person.

Marine Forecast …
Wed: N winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt…becoming NE around 5 kt in the afternoon. Seas around 2 ft.
Wed Night: SE winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 1 foot or less.
Today mostly sunny cold after morning lows in single digits temps will only rise to mid to upper 20’s with north northwest winds 10-15 mph..
Wednesday night increasing clouds lows around 20-25 degrees .. Late night snows break out well after midnight .. Thursday heavy snow in the morning going over to sleet / freezing rain then rain by 11am to noontime ..highs in the upper 30’s with se winds 20-25 mph increasing to 25-35mph by late Thursday afternoon and evening .. Thursday night heavy rain early with damaging winds possible , gusting over 55mph ! Winds turn north northeast late evening rain changes back to snow .. 3-6″ total ..
Over view / LP tracks from OBX to just SE of ACK , this track will likely induce Warmer air to come from off the ocean with water temps in 30’s . How ever I’m not sold on this and think it’s possible as LP intensifies off ACK it creates “DYNAMIC COOLING” which would crash the temps with all heights above us creating a quicker transition back to snow. Something to watch for Thursday . Also watch for damaging wind potential .. More later today with special video update on impending storm .. Thank u for reading and viewing …
