Trick Or Treat on Main St!!! Everyone is invited to come downtown this Thursday, Halloween Night from 4-6 PM and get candy at participating stores! Look for the Jack-O-Lantern in the store windows. BOO!!! See you Thursday!
Who wants to come trick or treating with me on Thursday? Maybe I will go as Cinderella

You can question my haphazard route, but it’s hard to question the picturesque nature of where we live. Amazing. Home to Manchester from Gloucester, via Magnolia.
What a week! OK, no World Series game tomorrow, so get on down to Alchemy and help judge the 2nd installment of their chef throwdown series as champion Chef Scott Jensen takes on Chef Stacy Cogswell of award-winning Brookline restaurant, Regal Beagle, in a head-to-head challenge with the season’s #1 staple: the pumpkin. Plus you’ll be helping to support The Open Door at the same time. — Call 978-281-3997 for reservations
Alchemy Cafe & BistroProfessional and amateur ARTISTS compete to see who can make a pumpkin LOOK BEST. Alchemy will donate $5 to the Open Door for every pumpkin entered.
Contestants do not need to be present at the event itself to win, they simply need to bring their carved pumpkin to Alchemy anytime between now and 7:00 pm on October 29th. The best looking pumpkin will earn its maker a $100 gift certificate with second place receiving $50.
Here are some ideas – but maybe someone should do a GMG pumpkin?

If you want to attend the Chef Pumpkin Challenge at Alchemy on Tuesday, October 29th call 978-281-3997. Alchemy’s Chef Scott Jensen will challenge Chef Stacy Cogswell of Regal Beagle to a throw down with the season’s #1 staple: the pumpkin.
At the challenge, every guest will receive a signature challenge cocktail made with Gloucester’s own Ryan & Wood spirits, a pumpkin dish from each chef, and the opportunity to cast their vote for the winner of both contests.
Hi Joe,
2 things today for your readers. In the spirit of having a safe and enjoyable Halloween for the little ones, the Gloucester Police Department would encourage the use of reflecting clothing or a flashlight to illuminate persons walking on sidewalks or streets during trick or treating, be aware of traffic, as traffic should be aware of the many kids who will be out and about on Thursday night. Kids, stay wih your parents or the adult who came out with you. The Gloucester Police Department will be fully staffed to address any concerns that may arise throughout the eventing.
Also, The Fiesta After Action Report is completed. I would encourage your readers to stop by and grab a copy of it from my office. Read for yourselves the exhaustive review of Fiesta and the plans for moving forward, and then please contact me directly with any questions, comments or concerns.
As we all well know….Editorials tend to miss important issues.

The legendary kraken was said to live off the coasts of Norway and Greenland. Many believe the myth was based on sightings of actual giant squid, which are known to reach about 40 feet in length!

Sunday Night G Town Music Photos From Mary Barker
Hi Joey,
Thought I would share some shots of musical happenings Sunday evening.
There first few are from the Dog Bar, where Michael O’Leary (bodhran and vocals), Lin Swicker (guitar, mandolin, banjo), and Adrienne Howard (guitar, hurry gurdy) were joined by Olivia Gale (in blue – guitar, vocals), Bob Barker (Scottish small pipes) and a host of singers for a Celtic music session. We always get people up dancing.
Next, are some shots from the Cape Ann Contra Dance held at the First Baptist Church on Gloucester St, organized by Rose Sheehan. The dance is always enjoyed by folks of all age ranges, I just missed an 82 year old dancer and a family with 3 young boys. All are welcomed to come and give it a try!

Also in the cast are Jonathan Arnold, Henry Cooper, Olivia Gale, Ashlee Holm, Andrew Hoover, Beebe Nelson, Nick Neyeloff, Dominic Parry,
Nathaniel Punches, Jim Robinson, Donald Roby, Jessie Sorrells, Stephen Turner, Claudio Von Bismark, Daria Whittaker, and Jayson Winer.
Original music for the many songs in the text is by Sirkka Natti. Choreography is by Carl Thomsen, well known in the North Shore area for his dance theatre pieces, especially on Cape Ann for “Clear Away” a dance drama about local fishermen.

Hi, Joey,
I am a life-long resident of Gloucester. I enjoy your blog and have become an avid daily reader. I particularly enjoy learning about all the wonderful and diverse events available right here in our own backyard….which has caused me to share the following information. I am a volunteer at Star House (located in Beverly) and truly believe in our mission; however we are in need of funds. The services available at Star House for children and their families are like no other; it is a very unique program. I hope you will consider including my first requested posting in a few blogs between now and November 9, the date of the fundraiser. We are hoping and praying to fill the venue.

Joey,
I’m taking part in the “Plunge 4 Pete” on December 28, 2013 at Good Harbor Beach. The event is a polar plunge raising money for the Pete Frates #3 Fund and other non-profits in the fight against ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). I hope that some of your followers may be willing to pledge me in my quest to be the biggest fundraiser. Here is the link:

Thanks, Joey. Keep up the good work at GMG!

Hi Joey,
Anna and I went to Thi Linh Wernau’s “You Are Beautiful” exhibit at the Rocky Neck Cultural Center this afternoon. On the way over, my mind was wandering with work stuff and other concerns. However, from the moment I stepped into Thi Linh’s world I was moved by beauty in people, all people. Her art has a profound affect on any who experience it. Walking into the Cultural Center I was impressed by her overall presentation. She has such attention to all details of her work. Like the other patrons in the gallery I took my time with each piece of art. Marveling at the beauty in her photography and the statements of her subjects. I am impressed that many of the people Thi photographed were strangers to her at first and how much they gave of themselves. She has a way of creating intimacy immediately.
This weekend she is inviting visitors to participate in her “You Are Beautiful Polaroid Project”. We found Thi downstairs where she’s set up a photo studio. Anna and I decided to participate in her project. Thi had us make our own “You Are Beautiful” sign and write a statement of why we are beautiful. Coming up with the statement was harder than you might think. Thi takes two polaroids of each person; one she keeps for her project and the other she presents to the participant in a beautiful black box. I was thrilled by the experience of participating in her art.
I am looking forward to going back in the coming weeks for the other events she has planned.

Dear Readers,
These upcoming weeks, until Christmastime, I am nonstop with my business. My interior design client’s homes need readying for the holidays and I am very much straight out with landscape design client’s gardens; planting ephemeral spring magic and putting all to rest for the winter. I am a little bit ahead on posts planned and will do my best to keep up with all, but I may be calling on our Editor-in-Chief to fill in the gaps. I so very much appreciate all of your comments, but if your always kind and much appreciated comments are not answered immediately please do not think that I did not notice. I enjoy reading them and will respond to your comments as soon as possible. Thank you for understanding.
Warmest wishes,
Kim
