The Urge to Merge
You know spring is just around the corner when the Jersey barriers show up on the A. Piatt Andrew Bridge. I don’t understand why people have such a difficult time understanding the concept of merging two lanes into one. Instead of forming one lane all the way back to Sudbay Motors why not try two lanes right up to the merge. Then it is the simple act of alternating one vehicle from the left and one from the right.
I travel up to the merge in the lane less traveled and I have been cut off, cursed at, beeped at and then not allowed to merge when the time comes.

because you’re cutting the line, you entitled prick.

I totally agree with you Jerry. If they wanted everyone to form one line starting at exit 14, then that is where the barriers would be.

Totally agree Jerry! If you think he’s “cutting the line” please look up the rules from driver’s ed…You are supposed to form 2 lines and then alternate, one by one. Simple.

Merging two lanes into one is the way to go. The road rage I have seen is insane. Drivers screaming, honking like crazy, pulling their hair in frustration, cutting people off and almost smashing into the other car. I wish I had my video camera. Ya, that’s smart. Having to go through the process of exchanging insurance information, car in the shop, your insurance rates going up for years and just maybe somebody getting hurt…just because you think it should be one lane instead of two. I don’t understand why signs haven’t been put up to use two lanes. A couple of year ago they had signs leaving Gloucester to use two lanes. Somebody’s going to get really hurt (I’m not kidding. It is loony toons some days).

Personally I avoid the whole thing and exit at 133. After an hour drive I don’t need the hassle
