Chime in if you came today because of GMG. What did you order and how did you like it?
UPDATE: Within minutes of me taking this pic the place is on fire and the street is blocked off.
See FOB Brooke and Walter Pekham and his wife they were just behind me. I took my order and left and between the time I walked out and before Brooke got her food they were breaking down the upstairs door to try to get any tenants out!

We went we got the pork and cabbage dumplings – yum, the crab Rangoon – yum, the pork on a steamed roll – yum and the cheese steak egg roll – yum. Vivian and another woman working were so nice and helpful – we’ll be back for sure.

Hoping everyone got out safely. What a shock to see this after being there tonight before the fire. Hope all is soon well for the owners of this great new restaurant. Nice to meet you there, Joey.

Hey Joey – Just after you left the place slowly began to fill with smoke. They thought it was kitchen-related but couldn’t find the source. We walked out with our food and looked up at the building and saw flames! We told everyone in the restaurant to get out. Walter and one of the cooks went up to the second floor, knocked down the door and went in to get people out. A woman, her baby and a dog were in there and got out safely!
Feel very bad for the dumpling people – we hope we can help them in some way. We finally did eat, and it was very good!

Courtney summed it up – very unfortunate, but Walter and the cook from Happy Dumplings ran right upstairs to make sure everyone could get out. I’m happy that everyone got out ok, and I hope this isn’t too much of a setback for the dumpling folks.

Oh so sad about the fire!!! I was there at about 2:30 thanks to Joey’s post (had deep fried shrimp/pork dumplings with the dumpling sauce and sweet chilli sauce – yum. Pork buns also delish.) I hope everyone is safe and the home/s and restaurant repaired quickly!! Sending love to all affected…

I was planning on going there tomorrow to try the dumplings after reading Joeys coverage of the place. Very unfortunate for the new business. But as local consumers we should all rally together and make sure we support the restaurant when it reopens! Lets think positive… Maybe they will have a new dumpling called the “fire roasted” special! I wish then luck.

So sad. I was hoping to go there today as I had lunch from there yesterday, ordered by Joey, and not one dumpling in the lunch. The ladies were so nice and obviously proud of their place and the food that I’m sure that they will persevere.

I went in there last night about 6:00, but it was SO packed I left. I hope the fire doesn’t set them back. All the food looks great, can’t wait to try the dumplings.

Wow! That’s quite the crazy situation. Glad everyone is safe though- that’s the most important part. Wish I lived closer so I could give their dumplings a try and compare them to those I had in Japan! Sounds like they are a big hit so far. Best wishes to the restaurant owners and staff.

I used Rachael’s “Tokyo Terrace” recipe for hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps in my gallery. It was the day after Superstorm Nemo, and the Downtown chocolate tour. Delicious!
