So I went to this new joint in Beverly…

I don’t mind paying up for great food but the one thing that I will not endorse is paying up for good food but leaving hungry.

When you offer up a pasta dish for $22 and then serve barely 6 ounces of pasta I have a problem.  That’s $22 without salad, just the pasta dish.  Pasta- as in wheat flour and eggs.

I won’t be back.

I coulda ate a feast at Sista Felicia’s or gone to La Trattoria for better food at a lot less or my favorite Italian restaurant of all time- Vinny’s Superette in Somerville for half the dough and a hundred times better food.

Screw that place.  Never going back.

(our dining companions were great though)

  1. Name the restaurant. I live in Beverly and have been extremely disappointed at all of the new restaurants opening up. I would much rather not give my money to a place like that.

    1. I make a point of not lambasting restaurants by name. Anyone can have a bad night.

The point I guess is more to remind restaurateurs what not to do and give props to places that are doing it right.

      1. That’s not a bad night. That’s the menu. Hopefully they read this. You would be doing them a favor. Word travels fast. They will not last long.

        1. Must confess that my husband & I went recently and really liked it … we shared their fantastic $18 spinach, chard & ricotta ravioli w/ walnut pesto as an appetizer along with the usual bread & evoo; then shared another appetizer, a full entree and a side of veggies for our main course. True, the portions aren’t large but we certainly did not leave hungry, and everything we ate was delicious. We were also comped some good house-made limoncello after dinner. Obviously can’t vouch for how it compares to Sista Felicia’s feasts … suspect some personal bias there and not all of us have the privilege! Anyway, we plan to go back. Considering how booked the place was (we ate at the bar, which was comfortable and congenial), they seem to be doing well so far and their Yelp reviews are mostly very favorable. So maybe it WAS a bad night … I hope they do last.

  2. Vinny’s Superette is the BOMB! I used to live about 2 blocks away from that place and went there quite frequently. I miss it! And sadly, Vinny’s, the bigger restaurant associated with it, has now closed…Booo
