Jiddu Krishnamurti Quote of The Week From Greg Bover

August 9, 2012

“In oneself lies the whole world and if you know how to look and learn, the door is there and the key is in your hand. Nobody on earth can give you either the key or the door to open, except yourself.”

Born in rural India during the British raj, Krishnamurti was discovered, nurtured, educated and promoted by Charles Leadbeater and Annie Besant of the Theosophical Society as a “World Teacher” whose coming they had foretold. As the leader of the Order of the Star in the East he spoke widely in Britain and the US on Theosophic teachings, but in the late 1920’s, renounced his assigned role and dissolved the Order. Krishnamurti spent the rest of his long life as an independent speaker on spiritual matters, expounding the view that ritual and dogma are not necessary for the pursuit of self-knowledge. Alan Watts, Joseph Campbell, Depak Chopra, Bruce Lee, IndiraGandhi and Jackson Pollock all cite him as an influence on their thinking. “Truth is a pathless land” he said. He died at his long-time retreat in Ojai, California.

  1. Truth is a pathless land? “Now there is a quote from one who has no leader other than self.”
Any Christ Follower knows who really has truth, and which path to take as well, for the ground has already been broken for them. They choose to follow in His steps with His provision, His power, and His promises. All other paths lead one self into, self righteousness, self rule, and self ruination. Mankind can never lead himself anywhere without finding he is also lost, alone, empty, guilty, and afraid of death. In self perpetuated denial does one exist in a place where even eternity has no answers. Unless one fails to recognize their Creator that has given them life and has also placed eternity in his heart, one is certainly lost. Living in a place where nobody on earth can give it to you either… means one can remian there only if they continue to deny even their own existance, and the existance of the Creator of all Life. Worshiping only self as the door and the key is a pathless land indeed, and it is the birthplace where, “The frustration of the Divine Plan is man’s tragedy.”
