I know nothing about fishing or catching lobsters, so forgive me if these are stupid questions…
Why is there a season for catching lobsters? Is it to do with fisheries policy?
What do these guys do now the season has finished?
Thanks for your answers!

The season is determined by the individual captain. When the water temperature drops the lobsters are way less active and move to the deeper water and just don’t trap so while there is no official “season” most boats stop fishing in the winter when it does not pay to go lobstering.
Lots of guys will work on their lobster traps and/or boats and get ready to set the gear in the spring.
