Cape Ann Youth Lacrosse

A few photos of Cape Ann Youth Lacrosse Players in action.
This is Cape Ann Youth Lacrosse’s 9th year, and it has been built on the principles of learning and sportsmanship, not competition and trophies. There are no standings kept, no league championship or playoffs.
We play all players as equally as possible with the goal of teaching the sport and providing a fun experience for all involved.
This year we have created an all girls lacrosse team at the U15 level, next season we will be expanding to include girls in the 1st to 8th grades. All of our home games are played at O’Maley School for the boys and Magnolia Woods for the girls.
If you would like more information about the program please visit our website at www.capeannyouthlacrosse.org.
Random Fun In Rockport With Snoop Maddie Mad and The Bean
Crazy Cairns Part I
Joey posted Halibut2 round rock balancing and a youtube of rock balancer Bill Dan (who looks like he does his work in the shadow of the Golden Gate Bridge). I noticed a dry mortar technique that Dan was using and had an ah ha moment. I’ve been going for square sturdy construction and height but with a little dry pebble added one might go crazy.
My first try:

Considering I just had my afternoon coffee and had the jitters it was relatively easy to get the balance.
These next three are more my style up until now:

All I have to do now is use Dan’s other technique of putting a piece of bologna on the top so I can film a homie being a house wrecker.

This is Crazy Cairns Part I since I have only just begun. Wait until I try it without coffee. Arches, flying buttresses, and the blind scales of justice are coming.

Description
Funbucket returns to Cameron`s, where we first bamboozled, I mean, “persuaded, the management into letting us “perform”, as it were. Well, finally, all is forgiven, so we`ll be back this Saturday night. Mr. Bogus said he`ll try to restrain himself from doing too much “relic-ing” on his guitars this time. Three of `em aged 10 years in one night this past Tuesday…Ah, but that`s a story for another time, Boys and Girls. Come on out to Cameron`s and maybe see something like what`s in the picture…whatever the hell THAT is!
The Bean Takes Photos at The George Anderson Gallery Rockport
During our family day in Rockport last week the Bean and I took another Photo Safari.
We started out at The George Anderson Gallery. George Anderson has many contemporary paintings with lobstermen and local scenes.

From George’s Website-
George Anderson is a contemporary artist specializing in marine / nautical, abstract, mexican, rural and urban motifs. George resides in Rockport, MA, where he owns an oceanside gallery. He is well known for paintings that reflect marine or nautical subjects found along the New England coastline.
He is most recognized for his “Gloucester Waterfront” Series, in which George conveys the lives of the port’s hardworking fishermen with bright colors and abstract shapes. His most recent motif “City Streets” is based on experiences during his many visits to Manhattan. A series of large oils on canvas, “City Streets” uses mixed media techniques which combine images of the streets with the objects collected from them.

Sunday Morning Painting Class
There will be no class on Mother’s Day May 9th
Classes will resume May 16th at St Peter’s Square Parking lot 6:30 am

and these are the paintings we did. left 1,2,3: Paul Frontiero. center on clipboard: Liz Bish. next: Debbie Clarke demo of a gesture painting reflecting my response to the color and feel of the morning. on right: Tom Amend. Last week painter Jeff Weaver stopped by and noted everyone was painting a different view. This past Sunday we all faced the backlit hill with sun rising behind. 3/4 of the way through the class I introduced pthalo green into each of the students’ palette, showing them the cool/warm possibilities.
Liz wanted to know what I would do next to my painting. Nothing. maybe I will sign it. The gesture is a completely different ‘scene’ than the one I started with. When I started to paint I did not know what was interesting about what I was observing. I made one spot of color against another. between conversations with students I painted and then ‘wham’ the dark shape pressing down on the center of the picture plane against the house caught my eye.
