The BeBop Guitars is a guitar ensemble made up of members of the faculty at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. • All Cape Ann Students ages 6-19 are invited to participate.
• Videos will be judged in three age categories: Elementary, Middle and High Schools.
• There is no limit to the number of students participating on a video.
• Selected entries may be shown at various locations during the Gloucester Public School District Arts
Festival on Saturday May 7, 2011 at the Cape Ann Community Cinema, 21 Main Street, Gloucester.
Rules & Submission Checklist
1. An opening Title Screen and Closing Credits are required.
2. The video must run 3 – 5 minutes.
3. Please NO NEGATIVE STEREOTYPES.
4. Copyrighted material must be acknowledged in video credits
5. Record your entry on a DVD and label it with contact information.
6. Please include a typed copy of the script (if any) and list of students participating with school’s affiliation. Include the email
address, home address and phone number of one Participant in the video Project.
7. DVD submissions will not be returned but pickup may be arranged. We reserve the right to post all or portions of all
submissions on School System Web Sites, the Gloucester Education Foundation (GEF) website and videos may be shown at
various Gloucester Public School District, GEF and Cape Ann Community Cinema functions.
8. No video that portrays a minor will be publically shown without a signed release form from that minor’s parent or guardian.

I have some time on my Hands or should I say hand? At the moment and I’ve been checking out twitter lately and I’ve changed my mind on it.
I didn’t like it at first. Couldn’t figure out what the big deal was about. But, it gets addictive. It gives you up to date info on what’s happening on what your interested in.

I found the “Art, Rocks” at Good Harbor Beach. Nice sketch. I have to admit that I must have walked by it 2 or 3 times (I went across the street to look right after your tweet that you left one). The photo clue was what did it…I have been back and forth enough times on my first venture to have pretty much memorized the rocks along the sidewalk :-))).

Gloucester Stage Company Silent Auction
The Gloucester Stage Company is looking for visual artists that might want to donate a piece of artwork for a silent auction to take place during their 2011 Spring Benefit Gala in May. The benefit is a dinner/dance event to "kick off" the GSC’s 32nd Summer Play Season and will be held at Cruiseport Gloucester on Friday, May 20. It will be marketed on their 2011 Season Brochure, which will be mailed in early March to 5000+ constituents, as well as on posters, invitations and internet event listing sites.
Those artists who participate in the auction will receive recognition on the invitation, on the GSC website, and at the event. Painting from the Heart – Cultivating Intuitive Vision
with Color, Imagery, Print & Collage: by Sigrid Olsen
June 13-17, 2011
This workshop will incorporate a number of techniques Sigrid has developed to allow free and spontaneous use of color and print in order to express one’s personal life vision. The goal is to open up to possibility and leave each participant inspired to leave all preconceptions behind and get on with the business of highly creative living. The mood will be equally upbeat and introspective, technically instructional while reaching deeper to unleash inner imagination and self-expression. We will use a three part media: painting, print and collage. There will be a focus on color mixing, color theory and self expression through color utilizing permanent brilliant watercolor inks on paper. In combination with the watercolor under-painting, there will be a print component, employing hand-carved rubber print blocks. The workshop culminates in a collage using all the elements practiced over the past few days. The notion of inspiration will be explored through guided meditation, audio-visual presentation and open discussion.

Call for Proposals
LynnArts is now accepting proposals for group and solo shows for 2012. The Willow Community Gallery, suitable for two to four person or solo shows and installations is 12′ x 25′ with 12′ ceilings (5 openings) with a standard size door entry. Accepted artists are required to install their show, produce show cards and provide an opening reception, though no fee is charged for the space. LynnArts sends out press releases on all shows, but strongly encourages artists to send their own promotion materials as well. Artists are also strongly encouraged to offer a community component to their exhibition like a gallery talk or demonstration.
We accept proposals for all mediums and installations, though film/video artists must supply their own equipment. The deadline for proposals is May 1. Artist Statement
I create because I am compelled to. Creative expression drives my soul. A balance, a release, a meditative state of purity, a flow. Capture.
Capturing the moment, the movement, collecting the subtleties, the essence, a feeling.
A fleeting feeling expressed in painted color on a smooth delicate piece of hand-made paper, or collaged on a battered block of salty driftwood. To completely immerse myself in the quiet intense focus of excitement and discovery.
I create to clarify my mind, to allow deep thoughts to emerge, to unearth connections with images, textures and text in relationship to my world, our world. Our world – a beautiful disaster. So fragile, yet resilient.
I create to connect and build with nature, to bridge art with the environment.
To engage with the sounds, visuals, and conscious, of a swish of a flock of sand pipers simultaneously taking off for flight, the reflection and ripples of a street puddle captured between thawing ice, or the light riding a wave onto the hard sand, of a shell covered beach.
I create to understand humans’ relationship to our earth, our cultures, and to express my respect for its undying strength as it continues to amaze me.
Share. I educate because of my desire to share. I want to share these moments with others, share the artists mind, the contemplation of the beauty and life in everything. Lightness and heaviness, natural and un-natural, to release the burdens and routine of life and add a certain weightlessness to them.
To surprise the viewer and challenge their way of seeing.
