My View of Life on the Dock
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to let everybody know that tonight at The Topside, we have "Cool Change" playing starting at 8:00. Today is too nice a day not to go out and do something fun… The group is amazing! They play great covers including Aerosmith, Natash Bedingfield, Beatles, Bryan Adams, Eagles, Elton John, Clapton, Presley, Faith Hill, Sinatra, Buffet, Huey Lewis, Jewel, Journey, U2, Tom Petty, Sheryl Crow, the Police, the Stones, Nora Jones and a ton more! Joanie Barry (the singer) has an amazing voice! A must see!
Tomorrow, Gloucester’s own Bandit Kings will be playing at 9:00. They play hot b-side songs, originals, and a lot of your favorites! Hope you can make it!
Don’t forget about Sunday Brunch! Now served at The Topside starting at 11:00am!
Thanks,

I hope you enjoy it. there are some pretty touching moments in here.
After a long day of working on the house on Saturday we decided to grab some pizza from Mike’s Place. We ordered “the Favorite” with extra cheese. The favorite is their cheese pizza with sweet sauce. I don’t usually like sweet sauce on pizza, but this was very good. Ā Obviously the extra cheese isn’t for someone who is watching their waistline. Ā It’s nice that Mike’s is open late and has the option of take out or you can eat at one of their booths.
Now I need to try Igloo, the ice cream/slushie place, they just opened next door.
Dinner with David Cox and we both agreed these were fantastic.
Tom Shea’s new Horseshoe bar with views of the Essex River is fantastic.Ā Ā The food is great and I highly recommend the bar menu.

Memory Layne (not her porn star name I’m told) and her man Joe are taking over the space formerly occupied by Elliott’s in the Historic Blackburn Building.
Check out the website for now and look for updates as to the renovations taking place in these pages.
Here’s the website for Giusppe’s Ristorante and Piano Bar
From the website-
It seemed like a simple request…
From the back of a restaurant, I called out, requesting one of my favorite songs.
Joe looked up at me from the piano and asked, āCan you sing it?ā After we met that summer evening, Joe and I did what everybody does on Cape Annā¦..walking beaches, breathing salt air, taking in the great food and entertainment.
Neither of us enjoyed being separated once the off-season rolled around and he traveled abroad for work.Ā It didnāt take us long to figure out it was time to create a special place for people to enjoy great music, food and company.
Weāve been working and dreaming, in the hope that you will enjoy a unique and wonderful experience here at Giuseppeās Ristorante and Piano Bar.

Last night was the total package- fantastic food, fantastic music but most importantly fantastic company.Ā Thanks Dean for inviting us to a great evening.Ā It was a pleasure meeting Steve Asaro and wife Chris- what great Gloucester people- unpretentious, fun people who have 5 kids at home and still get out and enjoy themselves.Ā We had a blast.
Look for the next Georgeās By Night special evening and reserve your space right away.Ā It was a packed house.Ā I suspect because the first one was so successful and featuring music by Chelsea Berry canāt hurt!.Ā Iām sure Dean will let me know when the next one is so yāall can get a reservation.
Ruth and Curley can be found in either Rockport or Salem and can cater to someone’s wishes for a carriage ride before and after weddings or for special events.Ā Imagine this- you take your girlfriend or wife out for a nice dinner and then have Ruth pick you up after dinner for a nice carriage ride where you pop the question or just rekindle a little romance.
Check out Friendship Carriage Tours Website Here
I first met Ruth when she became the sole female contestant in the Passports Rogue Burger Challenge where she put in a very respectable showing even beating many men twice her size.Ā Unbeknown to me Ruth had just gotten out of a yoga class and wandered into Passports off the street all disheveled so when it came time to handing out nicknames for the Rogue Burger Challenge the nickname “Homeless Ruth” was born.
Here is some video from that day-
Here the burgers were presented-

I really dig the new renovations and the bar menu is outstanding.

Ā
Pastrami on rye is one of my favorite sanwiches. Maybe I was mixed up in the nursery and I am really Jewish but a New York Deli and a hot pastrami sandwich is right up there with a lobster roll, hold the celery. But a bad pastrami is such a bummer I don’t often order it unless I am in lower Manhattan.
But the Red Skiff in Rockport had a grilled Hot Pastrami on the specials board and took a chance.

The rye was grilled and that was what pushed this sandwich over the top into greatness. Since the Red Skiff has the tastiest french fries in Rockport I could only eat half of this since I had to eat all the fries. But the second half cold for dinner was pretty good.
To prove I’m not pulling a fast one:

That was an hour ago. But first I had to grab a Italian Sausage from Sausage King on Lansdowne:

Around the corner first big red umbrella on the right:

Yes, I’ll have that one 8 bucks.

After eating that and a short nap I can now miss my 2 PM post time by just ten minutes. (No I did not have tickets.) Back to the lab for me. My regular scalpers were up to 100 bucks for good seats. Too rich for my blood. Did everyone see Dice K pitch last night? Wicked Ahsome!
