Last of the Wooden Eastern Rigged Side Draggers
From deb Clarke;
Meet Will Toppan, The Owner of the last “Art, Rock’s!” Rock.
Will and his Dad found that Rock in record time. I received an email within an hour after it was posted on GMG.
Here’s the email I received from Will and bill;
Mr. Frontiero,
thank you, my son has been on a mission to find one. You have made his day. Words can’t describe his expression upon finding it. You have a special following, please continue, I’m sure more smiles will follow.
Bill and Will Toppan
Thanks to my Son Chris for dropping off the “Art, Rock” this morning. At this moment he’s watching the time on His Ipod. At exactly 10am He will release the Rock where he was instructed to do so. Here are a few Photos. Sorry about the out of focus Rock photo. It’s hard doing things with only your left hand when your right handed.
I have some time on my Hands or should I say hand? At the moment and I’ve been checking out twitter lately and I’ve changed my mind on it.
I didn’t like it at first. Couldn’t figure out what the big deal was about. But, it gets addictive. It gives you up to date info on what’s happening on what your interested in.
I follow “TWITS” on Cape Ann, Artists and News.
Here’s a list I found on Artists and photographers. Cape Ann Arts Map is listed here among thousands of others from around the World.

I wanted to see if using Twitter for This “Art, Rocks!” thing would work. It did. Here’s the email I received;
I found the “Art, Rocks” at Good Harbor Beach. Nice sketch. I have to admit that I must have walked by it 2 or 3 times (I went across the street to look right after your tweet that you left one). The photo clue was what did it…I have been back and forth enough times on my first venture to have pretty much memorized the rocks along the sidewalk :-))).
Sorry to anyone who was looking for a Rock yesterday. I posted i was going to leave one somewhere in Gloucester at 6pm on 03/19/2011. But I was unable to make it. Sorry Again.
But I did have a little break today and was able to do one after my Meditation session.
Follow me on twitter for it’s location: http://twitter.com/#!/capeannpainter
Sorry, but no photos. I didn’t have my camera with me.
I’m Hurt! and somebody’s gotta pay! and it will probably be Joey! Being left off his Twitter list is an insult! How dare you? No “Art, Rocks!” for you! only for someone who follows my twitter account! http://twitter.com/#!/capeannpainter
Follow if you’d like a Free piece of Art! You’ll have to do some leg work to collect it. but you have to be one of my Twitter followers. Goodluck! Next rock coming very soon.
Email contact!
Hi,
> I found your rock while leaving good harbor with my dog on Sunday. Great rock! Do you want it back??
My reply back to Baba:
Hi Baba!
I’m A little “Strange”. Just ask Joey! When The mood hits I’ll draw on a rock where I’m at and leave it and see if anyone will respond. So, I thank you for responding. You can keep it if you like, if not! throw it back in the ocean for another few hundred years. 🙂 Do what you wish with it! I don’t need it back. I always hope someone will like the drawing. If not oh well. Take it as, goodluck? It may not be Megamillions but…..
Thanks again for the reply!

notes from the clay studio

I’ve been a graphic designer, a technical illustrator and a painter for over 20 years, but when I touched clay for the first time, I was thoroughly captivated and haven’t looked back since. Clay is an art form that combines everything I love: the relationship between form and function, design, fine craftsmanship, color and texture. I like the wet clay stage best: the rawness and true nature of the material exposed and the wonderful, supple way the forms feel in my hands. Once the work goes through the bisque and glazing process, some amount of control is lost. Often things don’t make it through the firing, not in the way one hopes anyway. It’s always a risk, but that’s where Alchemy comes in and sometimes if you’re lucky you get something truly remarkable and unexpected, another aspect besides the ”Zen of Centering” that attracts and holds my attention like no other medium. The best part of the process is opening the kiln at the end of a firing and taking out each layer of kiln shelves, revealing a treasure hidden underneath and cementing the surprise factor that has captured me so well.

GET NOTICED!
From EmptyEasel.com;
“Now that your art blog is up-and-running (and you have a few posts under your belt) it’s time to get that blog noticed! Below are 8 simple rules for getting more readers. . . and more attention online.
The first rule to getting your blog post noticed by others is to remember who your audience is. You’re not writing in your personal art diary, you’re writing to an audience. Therefore, it’s important that you keep your posts reader-focused.
Its okay to share personal insights about art and the art business, its okay to toot your own horn once in awhile, it’s even okay to share your personal struggles. . . just make sure that when you do, you leave your readers with some sort of “take home value.”
In other words, if you’ve written about a recent struggle you’ve experienced, conclude the post with a solution. If you’ve yet to resolve the problem, share resources (i.e. some helpful links) to possible solutions.
What would you rather read? A post that feels stifled and bogged down with impersonal, textbook-sounding statements, or a post that makes you feel as though the blogger is one of your dearest, and most treasured, friends?
Blog posts which make the reader feel like a real person get shared the most, so when writing your posts, write as though you are writing to your best friend, not a stranger. Write in your own voice and stick to one subject per post.”
