It depends on how large a vessel you want to Captain.
360 documented days at sea with at least 90 in the last three years.
There are other requirements too, physical, drug test, etc.
After owning and operating boats for over 20 years. I was very disturbed when I was getting my USCG captain’s license. I found out you only need crew time, there is no requirement to ever have a day at the helm.
