The ocean has been so warm and so grateful for these beautiful early summer days.

We can’t sail, but we can still get together virtually to support the ship. Anyone can join this broadcast for free, and if you register before July 3 you’ll be eligible to win prizes including two tickets to join us for the 2021 4th of July Fireworks sail.
Here’s a couple of sneak peeks at the video-in-progress we’ll present on July 9.
During the summer and fall our all-volunteer maintenance crews will be making sure that our National Historic Landmark stays in the top condition she has enjoyed for the last several years. We have developed protocols to do so safely in accordance with state and local guidelines. If you have time to spare and would like to join that effort, please contact us at info@schooner-adventure.org

Here we were at the end of the 2019 season under full sail and looking forward to 2020, but things haven’t worked out as we hoped.
Here’s a release that explains where we are now:
SCHOONER ADVENTURE SAILING SEASON UPDATE:
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that we have cancelled the 2020 sailing season. Our Board of Directors made the difficult decision that the only way to ensure that we maintain an adequately safe standard of operation is to remain alongside the dock this year. The health and safety of our students, passengers, volunteers, and crew is always our highest priority.
Our staff remains hard at work preparing for the day when we can once again line up and pull together on the halyards to raise sail and soar. We are building toward 2021 and beyond as we strive to extend our vessel’s reach and impact, particularly through our educational programs. Our decision not to sail also conserves vital resources to sustain our organization as we work toward the day when we can operate fully.
Adventure will sail again. As she has done so many times in the past, she will persevere and overcome. Thanks to our extraordinary community of support, this vessel lives on to serve as a symbol of resiliency, strength, and the triumph of common purpose.
All new memberships and renewals will enjoy an extra 18 months of full benefits so that when Adventure sails again, her members may use their sail tickets and more!
Thanking the Front Line- EXTENDED!: for all memberships made by July 30, we will give a free 2021 Family Membership to an employee of the Beth Israel Lahey Health Hospital in Beverly or Gloucester.
BUT DON’T GIVE UP THE SHIP! See the next Post

Also Remembering those who held St. Peter’s Fiesta close to their hearts:
“…Joe Novello, the committee’s president, said he was saddened by the sheer number of names — more than 70 — this year. In recent years generally 20 to 30 names have been read.
“The St. Peter’s Fiesta Committee sends out its condolences to all those families who have lost a loved one, and their memory will be in our thoughts and prayers at this time,” he said. Among those lost this year are…

Adventureman News!
We had a delightful stop at Pauline’s Gifts on Essex Ave yesterday. We got to visit with our friend Pauline and get some goodies with my gift certificate! Safe environment, masks worn by all ! Pauline is hoping to do a “Drunken Painting “ event soon, so keep your eyes and ears open! Thanks Pauline. It’s a great shop for gifts and other practical household items. I got a baby gift for our first grandchild. Lobsters seemed an appropriate theme.
