BEST WEDDING VENDORS NORTH SHORE BOSTON REGION

Esther Mathieu livmatt_06-20-2015-256 (1)Perhaps you areĀ planning a wedding or special event in the coming months. Our daughter Liv Hauck and Matt Oā€™Rourke, married on June 20th, wanted to share about the talented people who helped make their dream wedding come true. From caterers Dan Allen and Andy Maitland to Esther Mathieu Photography, everyone involved did an outstanding job. We wish to express ourĀ most heartfelt thanks to all and thought the best way to say a big thank you to each was to provide contact information and a brief description aboutĀ their businesses.

Invitation by Shaina Gregory

First and foremost, our tremendous thanks and appreciation goes to Dan Allen Catering. He, along with partner Andy Maitland (Maitland Mountain Farm), prepared an exquisite menu using the most freshest and sweetest ingredients from local farms and fisheries. The theme was New England clambake meets county dinner, based around everyoneā€™s favorite main coursesā€”Ken Duckworthā€™s sublime recipe for lobster risotto and a wonderfully delicious buttermilk fried chicken. Captain Joe and Sons provided the lobster and the fresh vegetables came from Maitland Mountain Farm,Ā as well as from Appleton Farms. Even the honey butter for the cornbread came from Danā€™s own beehives! We were all raving about how deliciousĀ and unique were the hors dā€™oeuvres, which included such tantalizing tidbits as open-faced braised rib sliders, smoked tomato roasted corn arancini, and salmon canapĆ©s with mascarpone, capers, and fresh dill. Accompaniment dishesĀ were devoured as equally as were the main courses and hors d’oeuvresā€”traditional clam chowder, farm fresh succotash, and homemade pickled vegetableā€”to name only a few.

Danā€™s assistant Mary made the divinely delicious dessertsā€”raspberry tarts, brown butter chocolate chip cookies, brownie layersā€”the list goes on and on!

Dan and Andy were an absolute dream to work with. I know you will be hearing more about their catered events in the near future. Dan is in the process of launching his website and in the meantime, he may be reachedĀ at 978-491-9493 or dangallen@yahoo.com.

Esther Mathieu is simply the most talented life style photographer in our region. Liv first became interested in Estherā€™s work from her Instagram account and we all fell in love with herĀ luminous imagery.Ā And she is a total sweetheart to work with! The photos are a treasureĀ and weā€™ll be pouring over all, thanking Esther for capturing Liv and Mattā€™s wedding day with such grace and beauty. Contact Esther at: info@esthermathieu.com.

Our deepest thanks toĀ LisaĀ Smith whoĀ was our fabulous videographer.Ā Lisa is a producer at Cape Ann TV andĀ isĀ also a dear friend. We so appreciate herĀ time and talent.Ā Lisa wasĀ discreet; you would hardly know thatĀ sheĀ was present. Weā€™ll be looking at the footage in the coming days and can hardly wait to see. Lisa can be reached at: lsmith@capeanntv.org.Ā

Like a dream, the enchanting music floating throughout the evening was by none other than Cape Annā€™s own beautiful songstress Renee Dupuis and the fabulously talented Joe Cardoza and Nathan Cohen. From the sweetly romantic, ā€œDream a Little Dream of Me,ā€ to which the bride and groom danced their first dance, to one of the bridesmaid’s favorites, ā€œThese Boots Are Made For Walkin,ā€ there isnā€™t a song Renee, Joe, and Nathan could not play, and play beautifully.Ā Could we have been more fortunate than to have these extraordinaryĀ talents performing at Liv and Mattā€™s wedding? ClickĀ Renee, Joe, and NathanĀ to learn more about their current projects. ToĀ book the trio, contact Renee at: reneedupuismusic.gmail.com

livmatt_06-20-2015-261The very talented Maria Cracchiolo from Caffe Sicilia made the seashore inspired wedding cake as well as the perfectly coordinating 65th anniversary cake for Livā€™s grandparents. Special thanks to Virgilio’s Italian Bakery for catering the party the night before the weddingā€”the sandwiches, antipasto, and entrees were a tremendous hit. Kathleen Erickson, owner of Savour Wine and Cheese, was instrumental in choosing the wines and Prosecco. We informedĀ her of the menu and of our budget for both the reception and Friday nightā€™s celebrationĀ and she knew just what to recommend. Thank you Kathleen for theĀ wonderful selections; they were simply perfect.EM livmatt_06-20-2015-442

Update: Day Two Grill Staging Table Preservation Project

Day One Journal Here-

LAST MINUTE PARALYSIS- PLEASE ADVISE!- The (Help Maybe Get a Couple More Years Out Of The Cheap Table I Got At A Yard Sale) Table Project

After sanding and applying the first coat of Minimal Helmsman Spar Polyurethane I let it dry overnight and thus morning gave it a light sanding and wiped it down with a damp rag.  Easy.  Now for the second coat

7:26AM
Second coat of Spar Polyurethane went on much quicker. Still have about a half a quart left. It was so quick and easy I’ll probably put on another coat around noon and be done with it. The second coat darkened it up nicely.
Very pleased with the results so far.

11:00AM
Another light sanding and wiping off with a damp rag and now to apply the final coat.

2:50PM
Ive already put 3 coats on and lightly sanded in between coats. Staring at a half a can of Spar Urethane and with each consecutive coat going on that much easier, I’ve decided to just keep adding layers. 4th Coat-

Hey Joey

Definitely News worthy….. very few days with seas under 9 feet… and some over 30ft!!! You ever try to take a crap in that kind of weather! Holy Sh…!

A family of four with 2 (courageous) teenagers, 16 and 17, daughter and son, got out of class for the Summer of 2015, and in less than an hour later they were boarding their family sailboat on the way to Europe with 3 good friends… has just docked in the Azores. The trip well was a rough one but they made it safely! A Proud Capt and crew indeed!

Please see their blog

For those who have not been following their daily progress and blog, I am happy to report that Tioga and crew have landed in the Azores

The below link gives their report on landing and can also be used to go back and read previous entries and comments.

A Good Day for Ducks, Fund Raising and Lots of Enthusiasm!Ā Sundayā€™s weather brought torrential rain, but it didnā€™t keep participants from walking at the 25th Anniversary North Shore Medical Centerā€™s Cancer Walk. Ā Over 2,000 people walked in the midst of the storm.

Sunday Afternoons are Getting Real Again at the new Blue Collar Lobster Co.

Many of you probably know by now that there is great new outdoor seating and a new restaurant area at the Gloucester House. Ā Named the Blue Collar Lobster Co., this new establishment stands to be a lot of fun on Sunday afternoons. Ā Think old school…like waaaay back to 1991ish.

Thatcher and I stopped by quickly today to take some pics and to grab a bite to eat.

Two crab races, two rounds of corn hole, one virgin pina colada, one margarita, a hotdog, and some great reggae songs later, we left thinking, “We’ll definitely have to go back with the rest of the family and some friends next week!”

Community Stuff 7/6/15

We have lost our small gray poodle.  His name is Little Guy, (LG)  His hair is cut to look like a mohawk.

We let him outside to go to our backyard and he took off.  He is not wearing a collar.

We are on Marshfield St. in West Gloucester.  If anyone finds him please contact us.  978-283-9759.

Thank you Joey for your help with this.  LG belongs to my mother who is visiting from PA.

Thanks again,

Eric Christensen

The Friday July 10 GAAC meeting, 8:00 at the Lanesville Community Center, will feature astrophotographer extraordinaire Phil Orbanes with “Springtime for Galaxies,” an expansive, colorful look at the island universes all around us, unspeakably large and far away but connected directly and materially to us by the light they radiate.

Galaxies, in their number and distance from us, test the limits of our understanding, but there they are nonetheless.
Phil’s presentation features a spectacular, lavishly illustrated look at 36 galaxies, alone, and in pairs and groups, culled from the areas between the Big Dipper and Virgo. Each galaxy, like our own, shines with the light of hundreds of billions of stars.
Phil will also be giving away, to one lucky person, a new copy of James Geach’s wonderful book “Galaxy,” and there will be a consolation drawing as well. We’re not going to tell you the prize; you’ll have to come in and take your chances. There’s big fun here folks, goodies to eat, great conversation, and an enlightening presentation on a stunning subject.
GAAC meets on the second Friday of the month at 8:00 pm at the Lanesville Community Center, 8 Vulcan Street in the Lanesville neighborhood of Gloucester. GAAC is always free, no dues, fees or costs. Plenty of free parking.

More information on the club is available at http://gaac.us, on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/GAACpage, and on twitter, @GAACster.
