How sweet is this little Butterfly Garden! Kudos to the students and staff at O’Maley Innovation Middle School for putting this together. Kudos also to Awesome Gloucester for knowing a good thing when they see it….as this garden was funded by them! I love all of the excellent tidbits of knowledge that are available while enjoying the beauty of the space. What a treat to happen upon this while headed in for a cold, 90 minute hockey practice!

2nd Instar Black Swallowtail Caterpillar ~ Willa Brosnihan Photo
Monday I had the great joy of being given the grand tour of the O’Maley Innovation School Butterfly Garden recently installed by Mrs. McGrath’s sixth grade class. We first had a screening of my film Life Story of the Black Swallowtail Butterfly and then went out to the garden to see the very same caterpillars!
The garden hits all the right notes with caterpillar food plants and colorful nectar-rich, butterfly attracting flowers. With the bed dug entirely by the students (you can see by the surrounding beds that the soil must have been incredibly compacted), prepped, and all planting done by the kids it is truly a fabulous accomplishment. You’ll see amazingly adorned handmade and beautifully painted informational signs and butterfly baths.
My handsome husband, Ricky, for my birthday bought me this camera for kayaking. It comes with two batteries, a flotation strap, extra card and most important a waterproof case. Cannot wait to try it out.

Special Guest: ANNETTE DION!
It’s been many years since Annette Dion graced the Rhumb
Line stage. We’d have to go back to the Open Mic days prior
to the dinner format which began in 2009. She’s a songwriter
in the pure sense of the word, putting herself and her music
up on the block, having dogged the streets of Nashville like
so many artists and poets have done before her. I’m happy
to be hosting her awaited return! It all starts early… 7pm! ~ Fly
Dinner with great music!
*Each week features a special, invited musical guest
Dave Trooper’s Kitchen…
Prepared fresh weekly by “Troop”… always good!
Plus a fine, affordable wine menu!
