“While some of the waterfront slumbers, other areas are active. Dunfudgin boat ramp awaits the summer onslaught of weekend boaters. Situated on the banks of the Annisquam River this is the spot where this tidal river shallowed before the Blynman Canal was dug. Fishermen of the day used long poles to “fudge” their boats through the shallows. When they got to this area the boats would bottom out. Hence the name “Dunfudgin”!”

Does anyone know the origin of the name, Dunfuggin? My grandmother told me when I was 8-9 years old.
