San Pietro / San Pedro da Maré– Bringing Community’s Together

St Peter’s Fiesta is also celebrated in the small fishing village where I was born Lajes do Pico Azores.

The tradition is a bit different; women carry baskets of sweet bread “rosquilhas”, the bread is blessed and than distributed to the people, they celebrate mass in the small chapel (San Pedo’s). The village, guests and family sit down and share a meal. The events may be different, but the bringing together of community and family is the same. Viva St Pietro / Pedro / Peter.Viva

  1. Beautiful Manny–thanks so much for posting!! And sharing your thoughts, too. I think that’s what I love the most about Saint Peter’s Fiesta– the coming together of community.
