Sailing or Flying?

Question for Al Bezanson-

Given the chance, would you like to give it a go?

  1. Alexander Graham Bell was working on foils in the 19th century after he made his money with the telephone. Seems symmetrical that Larry Ellison should pick it back up after making all his dough with Oracle.
And pitch pole or no, sign me up.

  2. Answer: Yes I would give it a go but it ain’t natural. When I’m on the water I get all the thrill I need in my own 62 year old boat on a beam reach like this http://images12.fotki.com/v236/photos/1/1263364/5690106/Whee-vi.jpg
So when it comes to sailing maybe I’m a bit of a luddite.

Now, do I like to go fast? How about traveling at 500+ kt in this airplane and looking up at the flight deck as you go by. Did that in the good old days flying out of the Naval Air Test Center and I would give my eye teeth to do it again. http://images55.fotki.com/v509/photos/1/1263364/5946395/a3j_25-vi.jpg
