Girl Rising screening at Cape Ann Community Cinema

Abbie Lundberg Writes-

Hi Joey,

Did you know…

There are 33 million fewer girls than boys in primary schools

Girls with 8 years of education are 4 times less likely to marry as a child

An extra year of school leads to a 10% decline in fertility rates

A girl with an extra year of education can earn up to 20% more as an adult.

We have the opportunity to have a screening of an amazing new documentary at the Cape Ann Community Cinema May 29 at 7:30 – we just need another 31 people to reserve tickets by May 15, so I’m hoping you’ll help spread the word.

Girl Rising, a groundbreaking film directed by Academy Award nominee Richard Robbins, is based on the idea that if you educate girls you will change the world. It tells the stories of 9 extraordinary girls from 9 countries, written by 9 celebrated writers and narrated by 9 renowned actresses (Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Salma Hayek and more), and it’s amazing – watch the trailer! http://gathr.us/screening/2802

The film was produced by 10×10, a global campaign for girls’ education, built upon partnerships with NGOs, corporations, policy-makers, and grassroots groups, all working to change minds, lives, and policy. Rob Newton will show it at the Cape Ann Community Cinema if at least 50 people reserve tickets by May 15, which you can only do through our screening page on the Gathr web site. http://gathr.us/screening/2802  I know this is a little funky and might put some people off, but their credit card will not be charged unless/until we get 50 people.

thanks!

Abbie
