As a girl growing up in Gloucester, I was very familiar with this statue of Joan of Arc. It inspired me to read and learn about her. (The fact that she was on a horse made it even better– I loved horses and started riding early on.) As a result, Joan of Arc became my earliest example of feminine power and a lifelong inspiration. Very cool.
