Black and White shots are the hardest to accomplish. There are two elements of shooting you are missing. You have to pay attention to how shadows and light work together. These two elements are the heart of a shot.

Technically that may be true. But I’m not a photographer so I don’t think about whether the shadows or light are working together in every shot. Whenever I see one of Marty’s photos, I just think, “Damn, there’s another beautiful black and white photo. Marty’s done it again.”
