Who Loves Ya, Baby? A Good Kind of Rant

All this just to share a quote

After Reading GMG the last few weeks. It got me to realize what kind of person this “Blogger extraordinaire” Joey is. I’ll always say he’s a pain in the Ass. But he’s more than that. It’s hard for me to find the right words. I’m not a writer so I have no Idea why he ever asked me to be a GMG Author. I’m just a Ball Buster. I can’t help myself. Joey has censored some of my Posts and comments to save me from myself, and the GMG readers. Someday I may thank him for that.

BUT! I do love the Guy. His passion for this GMG Thing is unstoppable. I’ve been asked a few times how much Joey makes off of GMG.

 When I tell them “NOTHING” They’ll either respond with; “Why Bother” or “That’s a lot of work for nothing”. For Joey it’s not Work, or I think a “bother” at all to the Guy. Look what he’s been doing the last few months on these Pages. The content has been unbelievably Entertaining, Fast Paced and sometimes Touching.

I want to thank Joey for including me in this Thing. I’ve met a lot of great people here; “Fellow GMG Authors” and Artists. He’s also taught me how to present my ideas without pissing off too many people. Joey has put up with a lot of my crap the past seven months, but he kinda asked for it when he signed me up. I thought of this after I texted him today, I could picture him Cringe when he read it. I could’nt stop laughing to myself after I got his reply. I had some great laughs at Joey’s, Sharon’s, Mr. Morrisons and my own expense. I wouldn’t Trade that for anything.

All that just to Share a Quote and a Question I always ask myself. First the Quote. I thought of Joey when I read this;

Today is life-the only life you are sure of. Make the most of today. Get interested in something. Shake yourself awake. Develop a hobby. Let the winds of enthusiasm sweep through you. Live today with gusto.
— Dale Carnegie

Now the question;

Does anybody really Read This GMG Thing?

  1. Only about 4,000 views per day. But even if it was only a few people it would still be entertaining to read and more than entertaining to contribute. Dale Carnegie, the motivator par excellence, got nothing on Joey Ciaramitaro.

    Why does he do it? It’s fun. How does he get us to do it? He makes it fun. Starting two years ago and not knowing anyone on Cape Ann except my realtor, through GMG I have met dozens of really good people. A pretty high concentration of good eggs. Either all of Cape Ann is that way or Joey has filtered them so that is all you meet. Either way, it’s all good.

    You didn’t get the memo about profit sharing?

    1. Thanks for the kind words but a quick correction. The views as counted by the feed are routinely over 10,000 and closer to 15,000. The people get the feed because they subscribe never hit the site Paul M. They are getting a copy of the blog’s feed on their email box and on feedburner those statistics of clicks from the feed are well over 10,000 daily. So many people that only get the feed in thier email don’t even know about the comment section or the links on the side because they just get the copy of the daily posts at the end of the night around 8:30pm. That’s all good with me but I’d just like to clarify for your info that the wordpress stats only tell part of the story.

      Yesterday for example we had 15,949 views from the feedburner feed.

  2. Almost 16,000 views! That’s so awesome Joey! It makes me feel positive every day being part of this awesome team and though sometimes I don’t get to my paid work – I always get to my posts! Hahaha! 🙂

  3. Joey/Paul: IN answer to your question, does anybody read this thing. I can say absolutely yes, and nearly every day, everyday, I can get on line that is. I have been an ex-pat business person for the past three years away from my beloved Gloucester/Cape Ann, and you guys have kept me connected from places like, Korea, Japan, Norway, UK, France, Chile, Germany, Scotland, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Austria, China, Austrailia, Trinidad, USVI, the list goes on.

    It is an absolute delight, to get online, and “check in:, with the morning coffee, even if 13 hours time difference away.

    Thanks for doing what you do. As someone very close to me once said. “We do what we do, becasue that is what we do”. Fitting for so many of us.

    Cheers, bye for now

  4. I look forward to it every day. I lived in G town back in the early 70s. We try and make it back every couple of years. This blog helps me keep up with things. Hi to all of our family that we came to love. You should all meet at Prattys and have a cold one for me.

  5. Every morning I get up I have my coffee and click onto this blog . Pam and I moved to Payson AZ. from Gloucester almost two years ago now to be closer to her family , and there is not a day that goes by I dont miss Gloucester and the people there . Everyone here calls me Lobster because when I first moved to this small town I told people I was a Lobsterman from Gloucester MASS. and the name Lobster stuck . Thanks to G.M.G blog I can stay in touch with what’s going on in the place I consider Home . I figure we will be back (HOME) for good in the next two years once we get things setteled here . I used to bitch and moan about shoveling the snow off the driveway and off my boat to get to work in the morning , (NOW) I bitch and moan about the 114 degree heat here . soooo…… My Wife say’s if I am going to bitch and Moan it should be somewhere we love and around good people . Joey whille in the Marine Corps I travled alot around the world and even after Iv’e been to most of the states in the great U.S.A. and I have yet to find in all those places people who are as real , honest and just damm careing as people from Gloucester . so even though I am sure my opinion counts for squat , ( I ) say Gloucester and it’s people are the best in the World . And ofcorse …. Good Morning Gloucester is the best Damm Blog ……

  6. I check in everyday!! I’m enjoying the piece on ” Around the World” with Jeff ( not bad to look at either) in Gloucester. Good job Joey ! Did you really let that albino lobster go back to the sea?
    This site keeps me connected to everything Gloucester.

  7. Did 16,000 people buy the local paper this morning? The social media folks tell us that there are the 4Cs: content, creation, community- and being an old dog I can’t remember the fourth, but GMG hits on ALL of them. Even when I don’t agreed with you, it is all right out there with no guile or cunning, just simply “My view from the Dock”. What could be finer? My only question is,do you all get a week off every now and then?

  8. It’s my morning read with the first cup of coffee. My favorite part? “Your Moment of Gloucester Zen” — can’t get enough of them, and I live here!

  9. I read it nearly every day from Brooklyn, NY. Thanks to GMG I know more about what’s going on in my parents’ new home than in my own backyard!

  10. love the post and the quote, paul….it sums up everything about GMG and joey.

    i check in many, many times every day, love all that joey and all of you GMG staff does to support the community. humour, pics, recipes, shout-outs, PR, serious stories, i love it all!

  11. This is the ONLY blog I follow . Great content, outstanding photos, & current events to keep me connected to all things Glo related. Thanks for doing what you do and sharing it with the rest of us. I love those ‘at dawn’ photos everyday when I’m headed into Boston – reminds me why I make the hour long commute – because I’m lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful and unique spots on the planet. Thanks again and keep up the great work!

  12. I check in every morning from Charleston SC, lived in Gloucester in the early 80s and loved it. visit every few years when up that way….ya’ll to a gret job!

  13. Read it every day and enjoy it. I am not a native Gloucesterite, having moved here 10 years ago, but I will have to be taken out with a toe tag! I love living here!!! Another day in Paradise!

  14. Of course I “chickety check” it every day! Being on the automatic email notification list is essential – that way you never forget. For a Gloucester Boy who now lives out of town, it’s something you want to see every day – kinda like the obituaries in the Times LOL! Who says lobstermen can’t multi task!!

  15. Gotta have my GMG every morning with my coffee, rain or shine. It keeps me connected.
    The grandparents were born here, the folks were, and my brothers and I gave out our first “wail” at Addison Gilbert Hospital. We’ve moved a lot since, but Mom always said, “My heart is in Gloucester.” I had a Glouc. sailing lesson last week (it was great!) & my cousin greeted me with your GMG bumper sticker, since he knows I’m a fan. I visit my hometown as often as possible. Keep up the great work and wonderful photos of my beloved “Annie.” Cape Cod has nothing on us.

  16. Overwhelming? There’s something for everyone. GMG is just like a interactive magazine. Enjoy and comment on what you like, skip over what you don’t.
    I’d comment more, but I don’t want to see that face plastered all over.
