Last weekend, I finally went inside the post office for the first time since I moved here. I couldn’t believe what it looked like inside, outside it’s obviously beautiful, but stepping inside I felt like I was stepping into Grand Central Terminal!

You should’ve went downstairs into the Bomb shelter. Just in case we get Nuked you’d know where to go to be safe.

Grand Central Terminal is beautiful architecturally; our Post Office is grim.

Ok it’s not Grand Central, but I don’t think it’s grim, it has a lot of character that you don’t see in modern buildings.

Imagine the days before all had cars and mothers would dress to go downtown to “Brown’s” and “Henry the Habadasher”. Take their pre-schooler’s by the hand. If we behaved we could look at the toys. Cash in cereal box tops for a “Matchbox Car” at Sterlings Drug. We would be able to Walk on the wall at Central Grammer (Still having our hand held), and play for a minute at the city hall memorial. The Big deal.. going into the Post Office, Climbing the stairs into that big space, seeing all the P. O. boxes etc. Ahh.. the 1950’s

I love the post office. The architecture is classic and some of the marble finishes are just beautiful. I’d like to see it all polished up but I consider it a treat to go in there.
