Next time bring a professional who can explain military lingo…”So what do all these pins mean?” Note, I would never go to a drill meet ever again. I have been to way too many including the best in the world. Marine Corps wins that hands down with the eighth and I in Washington DC. Its a great silent drill team and I have seen other nations not compare. Even the goose stepping Russians honor guard.
JROTC Stands for Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps. ROTC is at the college level for individuals preparing for a military officer career after a four year degree is earned.
Not only that if they enter enlisted or prepare for O.C.S [Officer Candidate School] it’s a great head start. This includes a jump in rank and a pay increase after basic.
Beyond the military schools for instance West Point, Naval Academy or Air force Academy. All types of Military education including JROTC is done with the help of retired officers and NCO’s.
Me personally I’m a fan of mustang officers not to be confused with warrant officers. Specialist or ones who have a well polished long standing military career.
JROTC has armed and unarmed drill competitions about twice a year. Not to worry, the real drill teams use the old M1A leftovers, completely safe. They are heavy and realistic but its a real trick learning how to spin the center of gravity.
I would also like to see them explore more with the military history tests. That applied with the combined drill score for a more well rounded assessment of the school program.
Drill routines outside of uniform inspection usually consist of a per-arraigned series of military movements. Lets say 21 different commands to be followed as a unit precisely. They are also rated on things such as the team leaders command voice. It alls drives home the true meaning of team building.
Then you have another sector in the military/civilian realm that some choose after they clear certain military protocol and a clearance level is assessed.
Bottom line it’s a great path for anyone who plans a military career. As far as a social life, warning you could be called a nerd occasionally. That really doesn’t matter in the long run. Its just difficult being yourself, coming of age, and if you can make those types of hard choices so young…You actually might go places.
The answer is ribbons by the way Joey! Most drill teams also use cords around the left shoulder to separate them from the unit. Hope this helps you out amigo..

Rabbit, Part of Joey’s appeal is his ability to ask questions just like his audience would and we learn with him. Thanks for the additional info on JROTC. Joey, it was so nice of you to provide coverage for the program and our youngsters as only GMG can. Thanks Again, Ed
