i also remember when it was across the street next to Aptt Oil…i would stop in after school at Central Grammar and get a small American for 35¢

I may have been 6 or so (50 years ago). I was given a dollar to order my own “grown-up” supper. A first. Out of the old black ’52 pick-up, into Destino’s and came back with a tuna and egg with tomato, chips from Salem, glass bottle of tonic. Just like my Dad would get. He and I shared it down the old Fabet wharf. He went back to work on the night shift and I fell asleep putting drafts (checks) in numerical order in the office.
