Senior students are raising money by being able to take pictures with Santa at lunch yesterday and today. Taking a picture with Santa is a great way for the high school to get into Christmas spirit and to raise money for the senior class!

I have a couple of series of pictures taken by my Dad, David Cox at the Seacoast Holiday Baazar. They are great! We would love it if you would post them with the message below to the Friends of Seacoast.
The residents and staff of the Seacoast Nursing and Rehab facility would like to express our gratitude and give special thanks to the Friends of Seacoast for all they do to enhance the lives of the residents living at Seacoast.
The holiday fair sponsored by the Friends of Seacoast was a huge success and enjoyed by all!
I decided to try out this new fad of engineering prints for myself. A lot of design and craft blogs have been featuring these prints lately and raving about them. It’s an inexpensive way to get large scale photos made. Engineering prints are usually just used for building plans and such. I tested one out with one of my photos from Lighthouse beach.
I have been thinking of using this as an idea for my friend’s upcoming shower as inexpensive decorations, but I wanted to test it out first. I ordered a 24″ x 36″ from Staples and picked it up in store. It cost me a total of $3.19. The quality isn’t perfect but the contrast and impact is excellent. It’s very lightweight paper so it can crinkle easily and really made for one time use, unless you mount it to foam board or plywood.
I have heard rumors, that printers don’t really like doing photos as engineering prints because it’s uses more ink and wears out the printers. I didn’t seem to have a problem, but I’m sure as this gets more popular some places may crack down and not do photos.
I plan on ordering more and mounting them to foam board to hang from the ceiling for party decorations.They would make great inexpensive decor for theme parties, weddings, or as dorm room posters.

Harold Burnham and his crew returned on the Schooner Ardelle from Washington, D.C. Tuesday afternoon, with friends and family welcoming them back at the Maritime Gloucester Center.

Now they’re towing the same tower section around the corner to it’s new location. Glad I’m not driving.

A cousin in Maine frequently forwards me pieces from Good Morning Gloucester. She sent the one on Capt. Harold Burnham’s voyage to Washington. I went to see Harold and the Ardelle this morning in Washington. Penny (the cousin) said you might be interested in the pictures I took.
Why is a person from Maryland interested in Gloucester and the Ardelle? Well, I was born in Lynn. My dad was Gloucester born and bred. He was James W. and had brothers who lived lifelong in Gloucester. They were Roger (Gloucester police) and Howard (Gloucester postal service). As a boy, I spent many summers in Essex at another uncle’s egg farm. As a result, Essex marinas & boat yards and Gloucester have always been an interest.

I’ve been following all of your coverage of Harold Burnham’s trip to DC and I wanted to make sure you and your readers know that the National Endowment for the Arts will be webcasting live the 2012 NEA National Heritage Fellowships Concert. It will take place on Thursday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. EDT. To watch, all you have to do is go to www.arts.gov. During the concert, Mr. Burnham will be interviewed about his work by Nick Spitzer, the host of public radio’s American Routes.
