Some mornings the tea spills, the weeds rule, and the fog won’t lift, but there is a recipe for curing any bad start: a cruise through the blog GoodMorningGloucester.
Your water bill may be too high. Your spot on the Rockport mooring wait-list too low, but there is no way you can feel anything but love for this part of the world once you’ve spent five minutes reading Joey Ciaramitaro’s take on Cape Ann, even if you’re reading from China.

Thanks for the kind words H 🙂
I would have to add that I have a great group of contributors and GMG community that make the blog what it is. Without the people that check it out, write in to comment and give us encouragement it would just be a bunch of folks posting pictures and commenting on their own lives. It’s the GMG community of people who write in and share similar experiences, likes and dislikes that make GMG special. I’m just one part of it. Oh and I’m also a lobster dealer, not a lobsterman.

Thanks to the Reality Fan Forum we can identify the contestants that I captured as they embarked on the first leg of The Amazing Race 17 on our lobster boats right across from the dock here in East Gloucester. This may help fans identify which boats their favorite teams are on as we learn more about who is who.
When you click on the first pic it will give you the super enlarged version so you can zoom in on each team

When the first episode starts you can look for your favorite teams by which are on the boats as follows- Purple and Yellow Team on The Jennie C (Dark Green Lobster Boat skippered by Tom Lupo).
The Lime Green Team who are on the Tuna.com (a black tuna boat) and were in the lead according to my wife as they left Eastern Point and headed down East Main Street Gloucester within the first hour of the race they were the drop dead gorgeous all female team according to first hand accounts.
The Dark Green Team of Connor Lawrence Diemand-Yauman and Jonathan Schwartz . Both Princeton Class of ’10, could they be Team Nassoons? (A Princeton a capella singing group). Credit to David Walter of The Ink for the COMPLETE REVEAL via Reality Fan Forum also the Blue team aboard the Karyn D (a Rockport based lobster boat) skippered by Ryan Drohan.
Team Turquoise and Team Grey(with hints of Maroon) aboard the Karen Lynn (a light gray tuna boat) Team Turquoise- Stephanie Smith (22) and Chad Waltrip (25)—Newly Dating. Both are currently in Jacksonville, Fl. She is the former MISS SOUTH CAROLINA USA 2009. Credit to Macaroons for the Complete REVEAL here. via Reality fan Forum
Team Pink and Team Orange aboard The Lady J (a white lobster boat with blue trim skippered by Dave Jewell) Team Orange- two black guys who may or many not be a little effeminate (not that there’s anything wrong with that) 🙂 and Team Pink an all female team.

The Jeff Weaver GMG Interview Part II
One of the best values in Gloucester- in Jeff’s Gallery he has over sized postcards of his work which can be framed and put on your walls. They are only $3. I’m planning on going in and buying 4 or five of them as long as the sizes are such that I can buy standard sized frames for them.
The first in a four part series
Finally I got to interview one of my favorite artists. I hope you enjoy this series as much as I enjoyed conducting it.
As promised we have more Amazing Race 17 coverage from the very start when the teams were let out of the bus. If you click on the first pic it will enlarge to the full sized photo to get you right up close to the action. The second pic is a version that will fit in your browser window when you click on it.
For all of the Good morning Gloucester Amazing Race 17 Kick Off Coverage with over 8 posts with pictures and videos to date click here
As you can see when you click on the larger picture the name of the bus company is M&L Transit. It looks as if the windows have a black layer of sheathing that is velcro over where the windows are the entire length of the bus.
In this second set of pictures the teams have disembarked the bus and are waiting to walk down the gangway to get on the lobster boats. First hand accounts say that there were production people among the contestants reminding them to not talk among one another. The contestants were not supposed to even speak to their respective teammates at this point.
Full size pic when you click on the one above- browser friendly pic when you click below
Here’s another couple of pictures of one of the lobster boats the Jennie C with the purple and yellow team aboard
Clicking on the first pic will give you the blown up full sized picture so you can see the little details

I’d like to ask if could people not simply copy and paste this entire post onto message boards and instead copy the url of this blog post to share. Lots of work goes into blogging and at the very least good form is to post a sentence with a link back to a newspaper or blog post saying for the rest of the story go here- http://www dot xyz story dot com
Now for the good stuff, some more insider dish on the process of how they get the contestants to the start of the race!
From what was overheard the contestants are flown in on private chartered jet with the windows blacked out so they have no idea where they are landing. They are then ushered directly into a bus which has completely blacked out windows and they are not supposed to talk to each other at all. They got off the bus at The State Fish Pier In Gloucester which is where I started taking video and where they boarded the fishing boats. With the weather being unseasonably warm they could have easily mistaken Gloucester for a warmer climate port. You can click on this link to see all the pictures of what takes place at The State Fish Pier in Gloucester
More to come later……
I just got a new portable pocket camera support made by Manfrotto. Manfrotto is the gold standard in design and what the professionals use for camera supports such as tripods. Most professional photographers and videographers have some of their equipment. I was reading a tech site which listed top ten must have gadgets for photographers and the Manfrotto Modopocket was listed and it looked like a very interesting alternative to having to carry a tripod around for those situations when you want to take a long exposure or conduct an interview without the shake and vibration which can make an interview look less than professional (not that anything I do should ever be confused with something professional).
I went to the reviews on the little piece of equipment and the people who had purchased it all wrote glowing reviews. The prices I saw listed for them in a google shopping search ranged from $20-$35. I got mine from Adorama Camera for $20 including free shipping. I got to use it a bunch yesterday and I am extremely happy with the purchase.
It folds up flat at the base of the camera and makes my Sony DSC H20 still pocketable which to me is crucial. The camera you can’t pocket is worth 20% of the camera I can always have on me to capture stuff for you guys. The construction is solid and engineering a marvel. I’m really digging it.
Check out the first video I took with it below. Click on the HD version to see the results I was able to achieve shooting inside of a lobster crate with zero clearance. The camera was sitting flush inside the back of the crate. The sound you hear during the lobster vs crab segment is the hum of our lobster tank pumps.
Here’s a link to where you can get it
