The Cape Ann Museum is closed today for this festive and cherished women’s only soiree hosted by the museum’s active Fitz Henry Lane Society and Red Cottage Society committees in concert with the outstanding museum staff. There is ample time for lingering points of vantage throughout the exhibits, holiday shopping, and dining in the galleries upstairs and downstairs.
The 2016 gathering is catered by Timothy S. Hopkins. Mariposa founder and designers are the featured speakers. Felicia Ciaramitaro (SistaFelicia) has featured Mariposa designs in her work and on the GMG blog.
For many museum guests, it will be the last chance to visit the special exhibition featuring recent Cape Ann Museum acquisitions, closing Sunday, December 11th. The extraordinary exhibition with a modest title Voicing the Woods: Jeremy Adams Instrument Maker will be up through February 26th.

Clothing designer Kathy Powers of WULLA will hold a special evening on Thursday December 1st at Jane Deering Gallery in celebration of Ladies Night in Gloucester. Ladies Night will feature a selection of designs including jackets, tunics, sweaters, scarves and more.  Each piece is either one of a kind, or of a very limited edition. Everything is handmade in Lanesville.
Clearly the holidays are about 90% about the boys, but I can’t lie, one of my favorite holiday traditions has become Ladies’ Night at Savour Wine and Cheese. Â This is the 3rd year in a row that I have gone, with the same friends, and I am already looking forward to next year.
First of all the wine selection is extensive and wonderful. Â In addition, the cheeses that are available are incredible. Â It is also a perfect destination for a gift for a friend, guest, or dinner host. Â Each holiday season I have shopped for at least two people on my list at Savour.
Beach Gourmet also operates their primary kitchen out of Savour. It is so fun to chat with them, watch them prepare amazing  dishes in their open, exhibition style kitchen, and obviously taste what they serve.  They are beyond amazing.
Ladies’ Night brought a wonderful crowd of wine sipping, holiday strolling women who clearly enjoyed sampling the wine, but also continuously expressed how fantastic Savour’s inventory is…and how yummy the food was.
We stayed from 5:30-6:15, shared some laughs, bought some gifts, drank some wine, and then moved on.
Thanks so much to the staff for creating such a lovely evening!

This Thursday night, Chris and Joe take their acoustic tunes to Katrina’s in Gloucester for Gloucester’s holiday Ladies’ Shopping Night.
Great food. Good tunes. Holiday shopping. Raffles.
We hope you can join us!
We’ll be open for Ladies’ Night (tonight) from 5pm until about 9pm, with apps and refreshments. Also, we’re fully loaded with all sizes of Fish City and In Cod We Trust tee-shirts. Although I ordered 80 pounds (a lot) of shirts, they’ll go fast – so come in soon. Pictured below are gallery artist Laureen Maher, Santa, and Janet at last year’s Ladies’ Night. 82 Main Street.
