New Hampshire 2012 Heroes Awards

From the Unionleader,
“CONCORD, N.H. — Dozens of first-responders and quick-acting citizens received recognition at the Statehouse on Thursday for their heroic actions.
The annual Union Leader Hero Awards recognize people who acted heroically to help others, some even sacrificing their own lives.
The waters of the Merrimack River were running high last summer when a man and his two stepdaughters fell off their jet ski and were left clinging to a barrier cable just 300 feet from the Amoskeag Falls and likely death.
And then there was Frontiero, the 27-year-old emergency medical technician from Nashua who went to the aid of two women being attacked by a knife-wielding motorist on Spruce Street last Oct. 9. The attacker turned the knife on Frontiero, fatally stabbing him 16 times. The two women survived.
“Paul Frontiero will always be a hero,” McQuaid said to a standing ovation from the approximate 200 people who gathered beneath a white tent. Paul and Cathy Frontiero of Gloucester, Mass., accepted the award posthumously on behalf of their son, whom they described as someone who spent his life helping others.   “We’re proud of him,” said Salvatore Frontiero, 25, one of Paul’s three brothers.”

Weekly “Sing” at the Annie

Every week on Wednesday night, 7-9:30PM at “The Annie“, there is a singing session, open to anyone who wants to come.  We sit in a circle in the art parlor and take turns singing and/or playing (on acoustic instruments) whatever strikes our fancy, and if others know the refrain, they join in!  It’s loads of fun, and a very friendly atmosphere in which all levels of talent and experience are welcome.

Here’s another video from our session last week.  It shows Ernie Pigeon singing “For the Life of Me”.

Gloucester At Dawn- 4:54AM 4/30/12 Salvation Star, Providenza and Francesca & Carlo- Railway To Railway

This shot was taken alongside the Railway at The Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center looking out across the harbor to the East Gloucester Marine Railway.

The amount of light in this shot is deceiving because the shutter was left open for a good long time to try to collect as much light as possible to burn in the colors. Obviously this type of shot with such little available light is not possible without the aid of a tripod.

Click the photo to see it larger and the details on the Adventure and boats tied up at The East Gloucester Marine Railway all the way across the harbor.  I like this shot a lot especially considering the very little light available to use.

This Webcam and more can be found at www.gloucesterwebcam.com

This www.gloucesterwebcam.com local webcam portal project was an idea I had last year to have as many webcams streaming from local businesses or organizations as possible which highlight the incredible vistas that we as people that live and work here get to enjoy each and every day.

The idea was to have the organization install the webcam, have them embed the webcam feed on their own websites as well and have a link to each business website on the Gloucester webcam portal website to showcase their business as well.

Tim Blakeley from Gloucester Bytes provided the initial installation at ridiculously cheap cost because he believed in the project.

Being Stalked by Bunnies

This is day 16 of not smoking.  I have consumed about 8 lbs. of carrots since quitting.  I am now being stalked by bunnies.  They are everywhere I look, and stare at me with hungry eyes.  Help!
