Ted writes: I changed out an American flag on Magnolia PA today and replaced it with this one. I thought it was only fitting that since he participated in fiesta that it go up to de fiesta stats and I’ll take it down on July 4 the date that he passed away.

Gloucester WWII Story for America’s 250th Celebration

Hi Joey,

My name is Angelique Barbara. I’m Carlo Barbara’s daughter, and I’m reaching out because I would love to share a story with Good Morning Gloucester that I believe would be meaningful for the community, especially as we approach the 250th celebration of America’s independence.

I wrote a book called The Forgotten Soldier, which tells the true story of my grandfather, Curtis Dagley, and his experience in Poland during World War II. My grandfather was a lifelong Gloucester resident, and his story is one that I feel deserves to be remembered and shared with the community he called home.

As Gloucester, and the country as a whole, prepares to reflect on 250 years of American independence, I think stories like my grandfather’s help connect that celebration to the real people who served, sacrificed, and quietly carried their experiences home with them. His story is not only part of my family’s history, but also part of Gloucester’s history. It offers an opportunity to honor a local resident whose life and service speak to the courage, resilience, and patriotism that have shaped our country.

I would be grateful if you would consider featuring the book or my grandfather’s story in Good Morning Gloucester. I think readers would benefit from learning more about Curtis Dagley’s life, his service, and the personal side of history that is often left untold.

My father, Carlo, would be happy to get a copy of the book to you if you are interested. I would also be glad to provide more information, photos, or answer any questions that would be helpful.

Beautiful Night for Novena Procession

The final novena was held last night followed by a Mass and procession to Beach Court. It had been sprinkling fairly steadily most of the afternoon, but as St. Peter made his way down to the SanFilippo’s the skies brightened and a rainbow appeared! The crowd was undeterred by potential rain as Joe Novello memorialized those Fiesta family members lost in the last year. It was an uplifting evening especially seeing so many young people participating as you see here in the video.
