Never knew how many songs the “Four Seasons” made famous . Cathy and I went to see the Jersey Boys Tuesday night at the Hampton theater in Worcester. The theater was awesome. great seats, great sound. We stayed at the same hotel as the crew and hung out with them. If you get a chance to see the show go for it! And a lot of “F” Words. My friends at Audrey’s Flower Shop asked if I could lend a helping hand by making 100 flower themed sugar cookies for their table at tomorrow’s Bridal Show scheduled to take place at Cruiseport Gloucester. I didn’t bat an eye at the 100 cookie request but the “flower” theme had me a little worried. I can bake all day and shape and frost cookies all night but give me a pastry bag and ask me to get fancy with it, and I’m instantly out of my comfort zone. I turned to YouTube for a crash course in piping frosting using pastry tips and came across a video tutorial that changed my world! After viewing the Wilton company’s brush stroke embroidery technique using royal icing 15 times, I decided to give it a try. I sketched a design template and began the process. I was instantly WOW”d! The results were amazing and I quickly learned that their ridiculously forgiving technique was perfect for someone like me who lacks the artistic skills needed to produce professional results when using a pastry bag.

I am excited to announce that Treetop Yoga has chosen Pathways as the beneficiary of this month’s Karma Class. The class will be held on Sunday, January 26th, 6:30-8pm at Treetop (7 Parker St. in Gloucester). This class is a great opportunity for anyone who has ever wanted to try yoga or the long-time yogi, every level is welcome. Katie O’Malley has been a devoted student of yoga for over a decade and became a certified yoga instructor with Kim Valeri at YogaSpirit Studios. She is also a certified mediator, facilitator and conflict resolution trainer. She holds a Masters Degree in Dispute Resolution from the University of Massachusetts Boston and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Three days of making cookies for a friend. She could have just banged out a cake but no. Nothing is done half-assed.
CrossFit Cape Ann put a team together from Gloucester to compete in the “Not Your Average Joe’s Competition” in Danvers. (I thought at first daughter Whitney had invited me for lunch..) CrossFit Teams from many of the area gyms came together to compete in weightlifting and rowing events. Competing for the first time in this event and not knowing what to expect, the team placed well landing in the middle of the pack of over about 40 teams.

Broccolini Sauté With Garlic Infused Olive Oil has been a family favorite side dish for as long as I can remember. Grandma Felicia prepared it countless times, her no fuss no measuring recipe is still making it’s way onto our dinner table several times a month. Can also be done with Broccoli Rabe!
Step-by-Step
1 Slice a few cloves of garlic thinly; toss in a fry pan with a 2-3 tablespoons olive oil, and one bunch broccoli rabe; sprinkle with a pinch of salt and freshly ground pepper; sauté over high heat 3-4 minutes untill rabe turns bright green; squeeze a little lemon juice over top; serve warm or cold

That is one determined sailor. He has been out there even on the most frigid days to brighten up Smiths Cove, along with Mysis, the tug, fish shack, and whatever that other red thing is by the house boat.
