Hey Joey can you help me spread the word about two great fundraisers we have going. First off the Kevin Riley fundraiser has secured four seats to the Sox vs. Tampa game Sept. 7th. Tickets donated by Gortons on sale at Georges $10 each, this is a no brainer to throw $10 at a great cause, but to have the chance to win four seats to this crucial game is a huge bonus, they are picking the winner at the ball game Thursday night so get your tickets now.
Secondly the GFAA is selling tickets to the Cruiseport Gala to kick off the Renewal of Newell fundraiser. Only 600 tickets are being sold at $25 each, including a DJ, munchies cash bar, beer and wine. Our kids really deserve a new field and Dick Wilson and the entire GFAA staff are really gonna get it done so lets support the cause. Tickets for both events are on sale at George’s so get your tickets now.

Yesterday morning I had the pleasure of talking with and interviewing Lindsay Crouse at Sailor Stan’s.
Lindsay, if you didn’t know has acting credits on Internet Movie Database going all the way back to the 70’s, was nominated for an Academy Award and starred in a film which is one of my favorite films of all times- House of Games with Joe Mantegna.
This interview was one of my favorites out of over 1000 that I’ve done and right up there with The Bobby Bobskill Chronicles (must see for any GMG Fan).
Now if you’ve been following along for the past couple of years you know I have a certain interviewing style in which I like to put my subject at ease and the editing I do usually consists of putting titles, credits and a few key transitions (fades in and out). What I like most about my interviewing style is that I’m not afraid to mess up and point out my glaring mistakes mid-interview. While I could easily edit the mistakes out, the honesty of leaving them in and letting my subject know that I’m consciously going to leave them in lets them know that I’m not trying to take what we do here too seriously and the point is for us to have fun and get the message across. To that end I think we succeed.
The interview with Lindsay is a classic example of this style and an example of the contrast of how some people who run TV studios will fuss over lighting for 45 minutes and try to control every single element of the interview and end up actually detracting from a great interview. When the subject is so nervous about making everything so technically perfect the message doesn’t resonate nearly as well as our gonzo style of letting it roll -mistakes be damned.
You can take your $10,000 cameras, you can spend 45 minutes on lighting and makeup, you can have a team of editors and dress it up with some crazy post production effects- Give me my $250 Sony HD camera with a tripod and let me roll- it’s gonna be gold baby!
It didn’t hurt that Lindsay is about the least pretentious warm hearted people that you’d ever want to meet.
Our interview yesterday was one of my favorites despite flying coffee creamer cups, diesel trucks passing by and drunken interruptions.
Below is a clip from House of Games, rent it if you can-
and don’t forget to come back tonight at 6

Many of you guys know Ed from our many GMG Man vs Food Challenges. You might know Ed from his work each weekend cleaning up sections of the City as part of the One Hour at a Time gang with Donna Ardizzoni and Co. Maybe you saw him in our videos volunteering his time to help clear I4C2.
In any case Ed has been in the home repair and construction business for ever and as a FOB (friend of the Blog) I asked him to do a weekly segment where you the GMg reader could write in your home repair questions in the comment section and at the end of the week I would ask Ed the questions and he would answer them in a weekly video on these pages.
Here is The First Question Sent In By Beth Swan Which Ed Answers In the Video Below
Ed!
Pleased to have met you at the parade and what a great idea! I will have many questions for you as we are constantly working on projects with our 1929 home.
What should you do with a junction box in the ceiling that you no longer use (in this case for a fire alarm that we no longer hard-wire). Should you get a junction box cover, and then patch, seal, and paint, effectively removing it from sight, but leaving those lovely little mysteries for future owners to “discover”? Should you have it removed by an electrician to avoid potential problems (if this is even possible)? Should you just tape a superman poster up over it and pretend the ugly little problem never reared it’s tiny head?
—NOT an electrician
Ed offers honest and fair handyman services.
you can contact him directly for Home repair work at 978-479-6401
or his email housedoctors@verizon.net
Feel free to ask Ed a home repair question in the comment section here at Good Morning Gloucester and we will answer it in a video segment
There are a handful of people in my life that I consider my brothers. Special people that no matter what I’d have their back and I know they would have mine- UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE-Under ANY HARDSHIP- WITHOUT FAIL.
There are about five of these guys in my life and I could write novels about each one of them but right now I want to talk about The Rabbit. I’ve known the Rabbit for over 20 years when we were running hard in Beantown tearing shit up in our single days.
You’ve seen pictures here and many videos with my boy The Rabbit but what many of you may not know is that he has applied for every single season of Survivor without fail. EVERY SEASON.
We had dinner with one of the creators and director of Around The World For Free Zsolt who speaks seven languages and has worked as a cameraman on The Amazing Race when they came to town this week. I stated at dinner that even after taking into account the incredible number of people that apply to go on Survivor (like Gloucester’s favorite son Jimmy T) and taking into account how many people that apply to go on Survivor that posses extraordinary physical condition or mental power that the casting people are crazy not to put The Rabbit on the show.
Let me be clear. I’m not stating that the Rabbit is a genius by any stretch of the imagination (actually quite the opposite).
I’m not stating that The Rabbit is a physical specimen to behold (he clearly isn’t).
But let me get to the reasons I think the Rabbit would be perfect for Survivor.
The Rabbit thinks he is really smart and will go on and on without any filter about random nonsense. If you watch the show you know that you can get pretty far in the game by being a wallflower. Working hard and keeping your mouth shut so you won’t piss off any of the other players. If every contestant played this type of wallflower game the show would be boring as hell. The Rabbit simply doesn’t have it in him to keep his mouth shut. He will ramble incessantly and try to strategize right from the get go.
I know of no one that loves the game more than him. Let me give you an example. We go to Vegas every year and every year we get into Vegas on Thursday night. What do you usually do when you get to Vegas the first night? Go Hard, right? Not the Rabbit. He would stay in to watch fucking Survivor the first night we get to Vegas!!!! He also has applied to every season- That’s something like 20 seasons or something!
The Rabbit Is Spontaneous- no matter the time of day- how far he has to drive- if there is something interesting to do the Rabbit will jump to it without any hesitation.
The Rabbit is an independent thinker. He may not be brilliant but he does follow his heart and will not be put into a box or confined by conventional wisdom.
I don’t know if this post will ever find it’s way to the right people at CBS Survivor casting but I know with all my heart that The Rabbit would be a fan favorite in the mold of a Rupert but in a sort of inane crazier type of way. If they want ratings and someone that will make things interesting, they should want the Rabbit.
I Love You Man.

Last summer Jean told me she was going to live in California with her children. You have to know that as an East Gloucester kid Jean was always around and someone that everyone really loved. I told her that I’d come back in to Last Stop Variety where she worked and do an interview with her about what it meant to be a Gloucester girl and to say good bye to the many folks that enjoyed her sense of humor and company over the years before she packed up and left for California.
I never got back to do that interview and it would have been a great treasure.
Jean you are loved and a legend around here. I hope you are at peace and happy in heaven where you surely reside.

Jeff Schroeder who just yesterday started his journey for CBS “Around The World For Free” had a choice- Eat The Lobster or Free The Lobster. Two envelopes with two very different outcomes for the rare crustacean. If he chose to Free The Lobster he would have to walk the Greasy Pole In Gloucester Harbor.
For those of you wondering the fate of the extremely rare albino lobster that we had landed at our dock at Captain Joe and Sons in Gloucester Ma, watch to see what becomes of the rare crustacean.

For the slide show of the albino lobster when it was landed click here-
We hosted him at our house last night along with the crew, director and my boys The Rabbit and Benny Goodman.
But first we had a whole lot of fun in Gloucester.
When I first realized he was coming this way my first thought was to have him go lobstering on one of our boats but then midway through the afternoon the perfect idea for some good tv.
Any of our loyal readership knows about the triple pincher clawed lobster that we got at our dock last Saturday. it was the first one I had seen like that but we sold it off at the end of the night never really knowing where it was going or if it would be eaten the next day (which I have no problem with BTW). But some of our readers, the newspaper people and television people that came down to cover the story about the triple pincher clawed lobster all asked if we would let it go because it was a “special” lobster. We don’t take special measures to release these lobsters normally as the afternoons here are all about getting the lobsters in and out of the building as quickly as possible and of course to sell them to people that will pay the bill for said lobsters.
So when in the very same week one of lobstermen Mike Tupper aboard The Freemantle Doctor brought in an albino lobster one of only two I’ve ever seen in my entire life handling millions and millions of pounds of lobsters down here since I was a kid Mike asked if we could keep the lobster in the tank so he could show his father in law.
OK now here is where the idea came to me- We have Jeff make the decision since the name of the show is Around The World For Free- He could eat the special albino lobster and all the lobster he could eat or he would have to walk the Greasy Pole and earn the right to release the incredibly rare albino lobster back to the sea. I presented the two options in two envelopes One said EAT THE LOBSTER– The Other envelope said FREE THE LOBSTER.
Mark Ring, skipper of lobster boat The Stanley Thomas took us out to the Greasy Pole and Jeff made his decision-
Here is Jeff on the Greasy Pole taking some advice from my boy the Rabbit

While I was at the State Fish Pier. enjoying a home brewed cup of Coffee and reading my new Book
“The Yellow House: Van Gogh, Gauguin, and Nine Turbulent Weeks in Provence”(I may be as F’D Up as he was) this morning. I looked up and spotted a fast moving object heading my way. Man, those Seagulls can fly when they get a Tail Wind! Then out of the corner of my eye I spotted a very slow, sluggish and weighted down surface vessel. Oh, it was Paul Morrison in his new Surge Kayak hugging the State Fish Pier. what a Beautiful colored (not Paul’s beat red face) Kayak, Light blue top with white hull. Very Sleek! (again, not Paul Morrison).
But, Really. He was moving pretty Fast. That new Boat will do him good in next years Blackburn Challenge. He has a little work to do getting out of the thing. But I promised not to say anything about that. If I had some Manbags I’d be out there with him on Sunday Mornings.
Here are a few Photos of Paul and his Kayak from today;
