Recently Joey was contacted by The Field Museum in Chicago about a GMG post from May 2012. They were interested in acquiring an image of mine from a post about our beautiful HarborWalk Tulip Trees, planted at St. Peter’s Square.
Tulip Tree at the Gloucester HarborWalk Butterfly Garden
The Field Museum is currently developing an engaging new scientific exhibition on the topic of Biomechanics that will debut in the spring of 2014. Led by the curatorial efforts of Field Museum Curator of Zoology, Dr. Mark Westneat, the exhibition will explore the science of looking at living things as machines built by nature and evolution. One of the topics presented includes wind and how the leaves of a tree change in the wind.

Well the original idea hatched last year came to fruition under stewardship of Brett Ramsey, Mike Costello, Daisy Nell and the Rest of The Gloucester Schooner Festival Committee. ![]()
We had to reload them three times with lobster as the line for lobsters at times stretched all the way from Maritime Gloucester to The Building Center.
I knew it could be big but never imagined in the first year out of the box just how big.
Next year Brett promises more cookers, more serving stations and even more fun (if that’s even possible).
Best part of it all and the reason for the idea in the first place was what made me most happy- It got the public down to Maritime Gloucester to check out one of Gloucester’s premier events- The Gloucester Schooner Festival!
Big time thanks to my Schooner Fest promoting partners in crime Al Bezanson and Tracy Arabian.

Lobster Delivery Completed!
Lobster Bake at Maritime Gloucester. At $12 for a lobster dinner, we cooked and served over 800 lobsters, all from Captain Joe and Sons. I collected a scary amount of money for them. You gotta’ give back to the community.

Joey,
What a fantastic Schooner Festival so far! We are up from Florida and saw so many GMG folks at the Lobster Bake! Not only did we see you, but Sista Felicia was serving lobsta plates, Fred Bodin was selling tickets, and photographer Len Burgess was sailing on the Roseway. Here is a photo of the photographer enjoying the sail (center). The Festival continues tomorrow!
Cheers, Sharon St Clair

Hey Joey, thanks for the great lobsters and keeping everyone up to speed with the goings on in Gloucester when we can’t be there.

Jeff
I am doing it without the rich part but I’m totally living the life. If money was not a concern, it would be hard to motivate myself to work. I would spend my days donating money to needy bar owners.
I’m coming off of 10 days with great friends in Annisquam, Massachusetts. Gloucester is the nearest big town. If you want to know more about America’s oldest fishing port, go to Good Morning Gloucester, a blog written by Joey, (pictured below with what would soon be dead and in my friend’s stomach) from Captain Joe & Sons seafood on E. Main Street. It’s a warehouse on a dock where the lobsterman directly sell their haul. This year, we were buying 1.25 lb softshell lobsters for about five dollars each. Less expensive than going to McDonald’s.

Mike Costello,Brett Ramsey and Daisy Nell Could Use A Hand Putting On A Hell Of A Time At The First Annual Public Lobster Bake At Maritime Gloucester.
If you would like to be part of this inaugural event head on down to Maritime Gloucester and have yourself a ball and 30 years from now you can say- “I was there at the first one!”
Sista Felicia will be there helping out and she will also have copies of her cookbook for sale.

The Gifts of Gold Gala Event was a smash hit in every way, from the outstanding hors d’oeurves and refreshments, all prepared from the pages of Gifts of Gold, to the stunning decor, created by Felicia, Daphne, and friends. Lillian, Rick, and Joey are wonderful interviewers and, with everyone there to celebrate Felicia’s much deserved success, there are lots of sweet moments in the video. Thank you Sista Felicia for a wonderfully memorable evening!

Adventure Wins! 1988
A few days after Schooner Adventure arrived in her new home port of Gloucester, she participated in the Mayor’s Cup Race at the Schooner Festival, and won. An amazing accomplishment, as she had a quickly assembled volunteer crew, but clearly great sailors. The race this year will be very, very interesting. My money’s on Adventure.
