Is It Astounding In 2013 That Someone Would Ask This Question Rather Than Google “Hard Merchandise T-Shirt”?

I got this email last night (name removed as to not embarrass the nice person)-

where can i find t-shirts for the hard merchandise?  cant find it on this place, or im looking in the wrong place.  help me out ok?  thanx

 

In no way shape or form am I trying to be a prick here.  It’s just interesting to me and I thought I’d share the fact that there are HUGE numbers of the population that haven’t figured out how to do an online search using a search engine.

I mean it had to take more energy for this kind person to type out the email asking where they can find Hard Merchandise T-Shirts than the energy it would have taken to type “Hard Merchandise T-shirt” into a search engine.

So you know they truly don’t understand how.  They’re not being lazy, they just don’t understand that they could Google it.

Here’s a Public Service Announcement for those folks that haven’t figured out how to search for stuff online (an everyday life tool I think you should know about)-

There are other Search engines such as www.bing.com and www.lmgtfy.com you can use to perform searches for things you would like information about or products to buy.

I understand that many of you already understand this but if you saw how many questions a day I get with simple questions that can be answered with far fewer keystrokes you would understand that there are huge chunks of the population for which this tutorial will help immensely.

If we can help just one person understand how to perform an internet search that previously didn’t know how I’ll consider this post a smashing success.

Joey C Kickstarter Project Number One- GMG Vajazzling Studio Project

With the number of Kickstarter campaigns spiraling into the stratosphere I’ve decided to launch my own Kickstarter campaign for the very first dedicated Vajazzling Studio In Gloucester.

Let’s be honest, if Short and Main can raise $22K to pay for a Pizza Oven, my drumming up the dough for a Vajzzling Studio should be a no-brainer.

If Duckworth Bistrot can enter a contest for a new door, if EJ can pull off a Kickstarter for her Owl and The Pussycat book, if some crazy cat lady can get a felt costumes for kitty cats project funded, then there’s no way in hell we would fail in our quest to raise enough dough for a fancy local  Vajazzling studio.

It’s all the rage. Screw this lobster business crap.  Stinky bait, angry lobstermen, early morning start time and long hours vs Vajazzling coochies for a living.  Hmmm this is not a very difficult decision.

I’ll just need a back up man to take care of the not-so-attractive patrons.  Paulie Walnuts is looking for work.  Bingo!  Paulie Walnuts and me Vajazzling coochies all over the North Shore.

Help me make my Vajazzling dream a reality.  Look for my upcoming Gloucester based Vajazzling Kickstarter campaign which will be forthcoming.  I will offer many levels of pledges starting with base level backers and working our way up to more comprehensive “rewards” for more substantial backers.

An Idaho native ordained in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at an early age, Law pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1950 to 1967. During the 1960 season he went 20-9 with a 3.08 ERA, winning the Cy Young Award and beating the Yankees twice in the World Series. In 1965 his work on and off the field was recognized with the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award. Law is also cited as the originator of the quote “A winner never quits and a quitter never wins.” He is currently the pitching coach at Provo (Utah) High School.

Artist John DiNappoli uses technical pens to create intricate mandalas that are out of this world and must be seen.

Eating Your Way Back To Health

Lately on a personal level, I have been taking another look at my eating habits as they relate to health. Years ago in one of my workshops, a students had handed me a book called “ The China Study” by Colin Campbell and told me to read it which I never did. Recently, I searched that topic on the Internet to see if there was anything current about it and found that a documentary had been done on the book titled “Forks Over Knives”. Netflix’s stream had it so I watched it several times and the information seem academic, competent and undeniable. “Forks Over Knives” is basically about eating your way back to health and reversing certain illnesses on the way. The documentary presents an interesting case with results beyond expectations. Simply stated, your health and dis-ease are related to your diet. Then Netflix, in its logical way, said, if you like this documentary you might like to watch this one as well, so I watched a series of documentaries on nutrition, diet and health. At the end of it all, I sat there quietly with the conclusion that I would be “turning a blind eye” if I ignored what I had learned.

With the information in hand, the task then was how to address my personal diet, turn myself into an experiment, and see how these changes would affect me. Of course, in light of all this, the strong winds of my own personality and habits blew hard and it became a challenge. Like many of us, I was faced with the riddle of personal change. The idea came to mind that others in the area might be interested in the connection between diet and health. I saw people posting on the topic in Facebook and also noticed in my brief conversations with others that they were having similar thoughts too… so an idea occurred to me.

Here is my proposal. If I have piqued your interest in watching “Forks Over Knives”, then start there. In addition, in my research I ran across an interesting Web site: www.Nutritionfacts.org, hosted by a medical doctor named Dr Greger. On that Web site, scroll down until you see the video “Uprooting the Leading Causes of Death” and watch that. If you are a Netflix streamer, after “Forks Over Knives” it will prompt you with a number of other documentaries as well. Research diet and nutrition and educate yourself.

Then, let’s meet as a group and address the topic as a community experiment. It will be a forum for many diverse perspectives. Bring all your thoughts and information including your personal health habits because we can learn from each other. We will meet once a month. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, May 28th at 7:30pm. at the Rocky Neck Cultural Center. I have set up a Facebook page titled “Eating Your Way Back to Health” where you can post your thoughts, or you can contact me at: david@calvostudio.com

If you come to my same conclusions, which to me were undeniable, and are looking to make this kind of personal change with the collective support of others, then join us. All said, I can pass along one simple observation from the steps I have taken, when I wake up in the morning, I wake up earlier and I feel rested.

North Coast Angler Fishing Report 5/24/2013 From Skip Montello

Fishing Report: 5-24-2013

Sorry about the weekly fishing report being late, as I’m just back from Abaco, Bahamas (@ 1 this morning) hunting bonefish and tangling with big ‘Cudas, huge Mutton Snappers, and the shark that ate half of the biggest bonefish of a lifetime; estimated at 34 inches and 12 pounds!

Capt Al reported that the Merrimac and Joppa were alive all of last weekend as solid numbers of stripers were chasing tons of herring. The guys that got out to fish were well rewarded as stripers pushing 40 inches were mixed in with schoolie sized fish. Flies and soft plastics were the hot baits. Meanwhile, Cape Ann enjoyed some very good backwater fishing at the Candy House, Jones Creek and at the Essex Greenbelt areas. Most of the stripers were schoolies, but few fish in the mid 30 range were also taken. Steve P. was taking his fish with the jumping minnow, skitter pops and plastics on a jig head. Brian also did OK with fish at Crane but the Essex backwaters slowed as the rains fouled the water quality, best baits were topwater JM’s and the MD sandeel.

seARTS Bass Rocks Art Loan Program

An interview with our Artist of the Week, E.J. Lefavour

How do you feel about being chosen for the Bass Rocks Art Loan Program?
Very excited.  This opportunity is allowing me to exhibit my work in a venue and to a segment of our population that I may not have been able to reach otherwise (unless they are regulars to Rocky Neck).  It is an honor to be in such great creative company, and I am grateful for the opportunity.

What is your medium or area of creativity?  I am a painter, photographer, writer, illustrator.  Most recently I have been working with the over abundance of wonderful photos I have taken over the past few years and incorporating them into unique, three dimentional photo montages, which people are really enjoying.  I created about 50 of them over the winter, and the series is called "Gloucester: The Grit and the Glory", since most encompass images of rope, chains, rusted hulls of boats, nets and other images from the working seaport aspect of Gloucester, combined with the glory of that industry and of the natural beauty that surrounds us here, as well as the history.
How long have you been an artist?  I have been a working artist since 1991 after leaving the corporate world and making the decision to pursue my art full time.
Where do you get your inspiration?  Anywhere and everywhere around me.
Other than the  Bass Rocks Golf Club, where can we find your works? At my galler(ies) on Rocky Neck. Khan Studio and the Good Morning Gloucester Gallery at 77 Rocky Neck Ave., Gallery 3 from May 15 to October 15, and at my winter gallery, up the stairs at 1 Wonson Street (behind Sailor Stan’s) from October to April.
What else would you like us to know?  I passionately love Cape Ann, Rocky Neck where I now reside year round, Annisquam were I lived in the winter for three seasons, East Gloucester and the Backshore, Eastern Point, paddleboarding, Good Morning Gloucester and all the people associated with it, and all the wonderful people I meet and have met since moving here.  I feel very blessed to be here.
