deb Clarke Sunday Morning Painting Class

The Sunday Morning Painting Class
From deb Clarke;
Sunday morning we held our painting class in my backyard.  we reviewed some work, then the students painted. i drew with my new sharpies.  this is the view toward the State Fish Pier with the towers of Our Lady of Good Vogaye on the upper right and the Marchant Street “Tower House” on the upper left.  I have since added aluminum leaf to the drawing to help define some of the shapes.  will post follow-up.  gorgeous day here on the cove, on shore breeze and the air is dry!  YES!

later,
deb.

**BREAKING NEWS** well, not really

While I was at the State Fish Pier.  enjoying a home brewed cup of Coffee and reading my new Book

“The Yellow House: Van Gogh, Gauguin, and Nine Turbulent Weeks in Provence”(I may be as F’D Up as he was) this morning. I looked up and spotted a fast moving object heading my way. Man, those Seagulls can fly when they get a Tail Wind! Then out of the corner of my eye I spotted a very slow, sluggish and weighted down surface vessel.  Oh, it was Paul Morrison in his new Surge Kayak hugging the State Fish Pier. what a Beautiful colored (not Paul’s beat red face) Kayak, Light blue top with white hull. Very Sleek! (again, not Paul Morrison).

After Tossing Paul a couple of  Lattof Farms Monkey Breads from Rockport, Ma.

He headed off into the Sunset, I mean Sunrise.

But, Really. He was moving pretty Fast. That new Boat will do him good in next years Blackburn Challenge. He has a little work to do getting out of the thing. But I promised not to say anything about that. If I had some Manbags I’d be out there with him on Sunday Mornings.

Here are a few Photos of Paul and his Kayak from today;

BUMMER, Man! a GMG Contest with a prize

BUMMER!

I lost my favorite Hat! It was a gray Lone Gull Coffee House Hat. I loved that hat.

I won a Gift Certificate to the Lone Gull in one of Sharon’s Contests. That’s how I got the Hat in the first place. So, it did mean a lot to me.

So, I’m looking for a New One. Anyone have any suggestions? If not I’ll buy another Lone Gull Hat.

The Winning suggestion gets a priceless plug on GMG! or a

 limited edition Priceless GMG T-Shirt as seen in the Horribles Parade.

The Hat has to be Cape Ann related.

Sorry, but Joey won’t allow me to take any freebies, So no Bribes! wink, wink.

Contest ends when I say it does. Also GMG Employees are not eligible (did I spell that right?) Goodluck All!

Thanks!, Paul

“Art not Art” from deb Clarke

Art not Art

from; deb Clarke

A few years ago I found a dozen of these handblown glass panels at the building center.  i incorporated them into wax/gild wire creations.  the heat of this summer has melted the wax and most of the gold leaf is now buried in the wax.  i like playing around with the idea of what is art, is it the making of something intentional?  my intent here was to show off the beauty of the materials.

it’s summertime, so here’s a pic of my garden, which is coming in later than other gardens around here.  must be the shade from the oak.

ART ROCKS! Again?

“ART ROCKS”

Went down to Cressy’s Beach to cool off Sunday. While I was there The mood hit me to sketch and leave a couple of “Art Rocks” If someone finds them they can keep’em, toss’em or pass them on. As Debbie Clarke’s  saying  Goes, “Art or not Art” That is the question. Or just Graffiti? Debbie is my Inspiration for these Rocks.

If I get Feedback from the Finders I’ll post them  here on GMG.

Mr. Morrison’s BIG Adventure

I caught Paul at the Staging area for the Blackburn Challenge earlier today. He gave me a quick Geology Lesson and his stratergy for finishing the Race. Did you know there are Salt Dikes here on Cape Ann? Neither did I. I’ll have to do some Research. Paul is prepared for everything. He’s got his compass attached to the Bow so he does’nt end up In Portsmouth. His Iphone with his Family monitoring his position so he does’nt stray to the nearest Martini Bar and plenty of energy bars and Bananas.

The most important thing I learned was how to fill your Kayak up with water, PEE, Then pump the waste water out. That will also help keep The Great White Sharks Away.

 Goodluck Paul! See you at the Finish Line.

What’s the Story Behind………

Here are two Photos of things I’ve seen many times but have no idea what’s the story on them. Anyone know anything about them?

I’ve driven by this Statue on Rocky Neck many times. Is there a story behind this?

How about this boat. Is it a pleasure boat? A work boat? A military Boat? Anyone know?

I Think He’s Gonna Need A Bigger Boat

We're waiting for you Mr. Morrison!

With all the Hype of The Sighting of a Great White Shark off of Gloucester by Seven Seas Whale Watch  and the upcoming Blackburn Challenge. GMG’s Thoughts and Prayers go out to our own Paul Morrison. Paul will be braving the Shark infested waters of cape ann next weekend in his quest to finish the 20 mile round the Cape Race in record time in a Kayak. A Kayak? Unfortunately Paul has been fatting himself up with a intense tour of Cape Ann Restaurants and Martini Bars. Biologists have speculated that warmer water and an abundance of bait fish have attracted these sharks to Cape Ann. But we all  know they were attracted to all the well fed Tourists and Locals who dine in all the great restaurants Cape Ann has to offer.

We all Toast Paul In his Quest;

“Here’s to swimmin’ with Bowed Legged Women!”

GOOD LUCK PAUL!

We’re all Rooting for you!

 BRING SOME SHARK REPELLANT WITH YOU NEXT WEEKEND.

I think he's gonna need a bigger Boat
