Clouds and shadows on Shore Road

  1. As a child (1948) we swam in that pool in the rocks even though the oceanside walls had been broken up in places and there were large rocks in it, rom the 1938 hurricane we were told. It sad to see it all but gone now and makes me realize how much of our childhood is gone. Oceanside hotel and all the big homes and estates gone or broken up into apartments. My childhood home on 25 Magnolia Avenue is across from the gas station and I planted that large Linden tree that covers so much of the yard when I was 3 years old. My grandfather was trying to replace one of the oak trees that are on the front of the yard and had a scrawny little tree and said I could plant it. He didn’t like my selection for it but didn’t think it would live anyway and then it took over the yard. My initials are still in it somewhere. His tree didn’t live!!!
