I strapped on the 135mm 2.8 and had a blast playing with depth of field shooting around at the dock this morning. Here are some of my favorites from the session. Everything manual focus. Very cool.

Well, I guess if ever there was a time to intentionally break tradition it is 2020. Unintentionally, we had a smaller Thanksgiving gathering than normal and we will NOT be cutting down our tree today….as we have for 10 years in a row….on the day after Thanksgiving at the Beverly Tree Farm. They have made the decision not to open this year. Normally, on Thanksgiving night, for as long as I can remember, we hunker down and watch the Polar Express with blankets, hot cocoa, and popcorn. At 13.5 and 11.5 years old, the boys decided that it might be time for a new movie. So, in keeping with 2020 new tradition of, in fact, breaking tradition, we scrolled through Netflix and found a new option.
We assumed our favorite positions on respective couches and found “The Christmas Chronicles.” It was really cute….and I won’t be surprised if 364 days from now we’re watching it again.

Thanksgiving this year will look different for most of us this year. After a long year of the pandemic, we have found ourselves still here. While many of us would love to gather with loved ones, and overindulge in Thanksgiving dinner, that’s not possible for everyone. It’s a hard truth. As we add the holiday season to the long list of things that won’t be the same, we can still be grateful for the home we have.
While not everyone has endured the same hardships, this year has been challenging for all of us. But we adapt. We can mourn the loss of our loud and chaotic holiday, and move forward. Not cooking a meal for 20 people this year might give you an opportunity to try some recipes or make room for new traditions.
