NEW MEMBERS, SPECIAL GUEST ARTIST and MIRANDA LOCAL COLORS ARTISTS’ COOPERATIVE

Local Colors Artists’ Cooperative on 121 Main Street in Gloucester announces two new members: Peter Black and Mya R Nelson. We also have a special guest artist on display, Joan Bediz, through October and have installed their Day of the Dead altar for the public to write their remembrances. In addition, Miranda, the resident skeleton, is back in her finery through October 31.

Meet Our Two New Members

Ceramic artist Peter Black works from his Gloucester studio, using many different techniques in creating his pieces. Recently, Peter has been primarily working with porcelain to create works that are designed for both form and function.
Woodworker Mya R. Nelson makes both furniture and home goods. Much of her work is inspired by the movement, flow and quirkiness in nature — starting with the natural beauty and shape of the wood.

Meet our October Featured Artist

We’re excited to welcome Joan Bediz, who is well known for her pastel and acrylic landscapes and still life’s. Her recent work includes depicting people at work, such as in construction sites or restaurants, and pastels of cocktails beginning with “M” – like martinis. Joan’s work is on display until October 31.
Add your Tribute For Day of the Dead

Miranda, our Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) resident skeleton, dressed in a crown by Sarah Fris, a scarf by Ann Schlecht and a pendant by Kathy Bucholska, is back and awaiting your arrival.

She urges you to post a tribute on the “Altar of Remembrance” by adding your own remembrance to honor the lives of friends, family and persons who have gone before us and had a profound influence on your life.

Thank you for shopping local and supporting our community!
