It Bothers Me That You Can’t Have Separate iPhone Volume Levels For Ringtones and Alarms

This from Apple Toolbox:

Can I have a separate volume level for my iPhone ringtone and my iPhone alarms and notifications?

“Unfortunately, at this time, there is no way to separate the volume of your iPhone’s ringer for phone calls from the alert volume for things like alarms, texts, emails, messages, and other alerts–their sound is set at the same volume.

And we really don’t know why Apple ties both the ringer and alerts volume to the same volume slider. It’s doesn’t make sense for how we use our devices today!

So you cannot lower the volume for any alarm you use to wake up in the morning (or for whatever) without lowering the volume for incoming calls.

The current recommendation is to turn down the ringer volume slider each night, then turn it back up in the morning so you don’t miss any phone calls. Yeah…not ideal!”

Music on a perfect day

Jon Butcher performed for The Cabot as part of the Porch Sessions series at Hale Farm yesterday. It was a perfect weather day for some folksy and blues tunes in a small venue. Alan Estes accompanied on the mandolin and harmonica.

Afterwards we drifted over to Nunan’s Nursey in Georgetown for some mini golf on a beautifully landscaped course and checked out their fall display.

Pet of the Week- Aporia

Hi, my name is Aporia! I made my way to Cape Ann Animal Aid through the Feline Rescue Transfer program.

I have beautiful blue eyes, soft cream-colored fur, and probably have some Burmese in my family tree. I would love a quiet adult home where I can take some time to open up and explore on my own time. I am cuddly, loving, and adore being pet by the staff here and sitting in laps. I don’t seem extremely fond of the other cats though, so I would probably do best as the only pet in the home.

I am considered a special needs adoption due to ongoing digestive issues and inconsistent litter box usage. I am currently on a special diet food which has helped me with these issues, and it would be recommended to keep me on it. If you’d like to take in a sweet cat like me and don’t mind me being your one and only, please send in an application to meet me on video and learn more about me.

Howard Stern 120 million dollar deal. They call Stern the king of all media. While that might have been true once upon a time, ask any millennial if it’s David Portnoy or Howard Stern or teen if it’s Charlie Demelio or Howard Stern and I bet you get very different answers.

Two By Two

It’s not a song; it’s not a book title….it’s how the birds seemed to line up for us a few days ago on our ride around town. Egrets, herons and unknown small ones all lined up in pairs for the camera on a lovely sunny day. The egrets were checking out the other egrets on Jones Salt Marsh and the herons seemed to be waiting out high tide coming in on the back shore. Probably part of the blessings of fall migration.
